As we wrap up mental health awareness month. This month we were focusing more on ANXIETY and many more issues of depression stress and Su***de. When things in our lives seem to go wrong, we often feel like it’s the end of the world because we can’t see further than what’s right in front of us. However, it is only when we look back after we’ve survived the storm that we realize that those “broken” parts are pieces that make up the beautiful picture of our destiny.
Sometimes, things must fall apart for everything to come together because not getting what we want can be a huge step toward reaching a bigger dream, according to Rachel Brathen.
Obstacles and rejections are merely stepping stones to something great, but you must change your attitude and not take rejection personally. Instead, redirect your rejection and use it for something good; will it be easy? Hell no, but it will be worth it in the end because we are never rejected, only redirected.
Take home daily mental health nuggets
1- The biggest stigmas affecting men’s mental wellness is the belief that acknowledging mental or emotional pain, is a show of weakness. Meanwhile, su***de rates continue to increase. Don’t suffer in silence. Silence won’t numb the pain, it will only amplify it. YOU RE GOOD BRUH🎯
2- Every time you open your arms to embrace rather than raising your hand to strike; every time you tell them you love them; every time you acknowledge emotional pain rather than ignoring or denying it, you teach your sons what it means to be a man. *The children are watching* - YOU ARE A HUSBAND/ DAD HERO. 🎯
3- As you are battling depression your mind may tend to dwell on negative thoughts, regrets, self-judgment, guilt, or anxiety. You are not who depression says you are. You’re not the sum your thoughts or actions. You’re a human being, worthy of love, and respect. You matter. GUARD YOUR MIND🎯
4-One size does not fit all. Menta wellness is personal and individualised , Find what keeps you grounded and gives you a sense of well-being. For some, this may mean medication. For others, it may mean spiritual connection, nature walks, or talk therapy. You, do you. BUILD YOUR JOY. 🎯
5- Those who live with mental health challenges, didn’t create the healthcare disparities that impact them, but their voices are essential if we are going to build a better mental health system. There is no substitute for the voice lived mental health experience. BE THE VOICE🎯
6- Just in case depression tells you that su***de is the only way out of your intense emotional pain, remember, depression is a liar. It is a serious, but treatable illness. Don’t let the lies depression tells you make you believe there is no hope. There is help. THERE IS HOPE🎯
7- Just incase you may be going through a challenge right now; It may be difficult, and it may appear insurmountable, but remember that every season has a purpose. Challenge yourself to control how you respond to what is happening; that's where your power is and always remember that we don't grow when things are easy; . WE GROW WHEN WE FACE CHALLENGES🎯
8- Adolescent youth, Depression will tell you that you’re broken and unfixable. It’ll make you feel useless, worthless, and unlovable. You’ll believe no one wants to hear about your sadness or pain, and that you‘re undeserving of love. Depression is a liar. You are loved and you matter. STAY TOMMORROW NEEDS YOU🎯
9-No matter what anyone tells you, sometimes people of faith can feel depressed, anxious, and even suicidal. If this describes you, say a prayer, look to your GOD, and get help! It doesn’t mean you’re spiritually weak or flawed if you acknowledge emotional pain. You can love God and love your therapist at the same time.FORGIVE YOURSELF🎯
10-There is no easy answer as to why adolescent youth choose to end their lives. But if we created more upstream prevention and intervention, and safe spaces to talk about and manage negative feelings, we might see fewer adolescent youth reach suicidal desperation. Su***de is complex. WORLD WITHOUT SU***DE. 🎯
In conclusion Just as physical health needs ongoing care, mental health also needs regular attention. When we nurture our mental health, we handle stress more effectively, recover from setbacks more quickly, sleep better, and physically heal more quickly. Mental health is health.
