KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Volunteer Community Health Promotion Champion, you will:

• Work closely with rural communities to assess their health needs and provide tailored health education.
• Promote s*xual and reproductive health awareness, mental health, and nutrition among women, children, and young people.
• Facilitate the setup of health facilities or access points where needed, ensuring communities have access to essential healthcare services.
• Collaborate with the Health Outreach Manager to develop and implement community health promotion programs.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health promotion initiatives and make necessary adjustments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in a health-related field (e.g., Public Health, Nursing, Community Health, etc.).
• Strong passion for community health and well-being.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of s*xual and reproductive health, mental health, and nutrition is a plus.
• Experience working in rural communities or community development projects is desirable.

REPORTING:

You will report to the Health Outreach Manager and work closely with a dedicated team committed to improving the health of rural communities.

The Public Health Expert will support the organization in reviewing the design and implementation of programs for the achievement of impact. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Review the draft audit programs to provide feedback on the public health aspects of the audit.
Interview with relevant staff of the implementers and in-country stakeholders.
Collection and analysis of relevant documents and information.
In-country fieldwork at the central level and selected program sites.
Prepare working papers and summaries of observations for each work team.
Prepare for fact-checking and debriefs with in-country stakeholders.
Hold debriefing meetings with the grant recipients and other stakeholders in the country.
Provide inputs for debriefing presentation for in-country exit meeting at the end of the assignment.

Qualifications:

Advanced university degree in medicine, public health, health system management, epidemiology, or related field.
At least 12 years of professional experience (international or national) working in planning, management, and Monitoring & Evaluation of programs in the health sector, including in developing countries; preferably including at least two years gained in the review or audit of health-related grant programs in the non-profit/public sector in developing countries.
Experience in assessing risks and existing controls to mitigate those risks.

Post
The Senior Associate, HIV Self-Testing (HIVST), will be a member of CHAI’s Global HIV Access Program, supporting the HTS Team. This team drives strategy development and ex*****on of both supply- and demand-side activities to catalyze the introduction of HIVST products and expansion of HIVST approaches.

The Senior Associate will work closely with the Senior Manager for HIV Diagnostics to develop and execute market shaping interventions for priority rapid HIV diagnostics, including HIVST, as well as support the subsequent introduction of these products in focal countries. This will involve working with suppliers, Ministries of Health, and CHAI country teams to support new product introduction and scale up.

The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balance competing priorities, and function independently are critical. Experience working and living in Eastern and Southern Africa will be an advantage. Knowledge of public health systems in low- and middle-income countries, in particular HIV and HIV testing, is preferred, but not required. There will be opportunity for growth in understanding of specific technical content and implementation management within this role.

Responsibilities

Support CHAI focal countries to adopt and integrate new and existing HIVST products into national HTS programs
Monitor HIV rapid diagnostic market, including generating uptake and demand forecasts, conducting research on suppliers, and tracking data on funders’ procurement plans and overall HTS strategy
Collect and collate country-level data on uptake of rapid HIV diagnostics, including procurement volumes, scale-up plans, and consumption rates
Support the Senior Manager with quantitative and qualitative analyses of market intelligence data to inform the development and implementation of supply side interventions
Develop presentations and strategy documents for/to internal and external audiences that clearly articulate and advance CHAI’s HIVST supply side strategy
Work with CHAI country teams, governments, and partners to identify funding for increased and sustainable investment in rapid diagnostic products
Develop and execute quantitative and qualitative analyses around major HIVST programmatic questions in focal countries, with support and supervision from the Senior Program Manager
Support work planning and tracking of country activities in line with grant deliverables, including support to monthly and annual grant reporting
Provide technical support to HTS team, CHAI country teams, Ministries of Health, donors, and multilateral partners in development and implementation of evidence-based HIVST strategies
Provide additional support to country teams and grant activities as identified with the Senior Program
Manager

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of professional experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver compelling presentations
Exceptional cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a multicultural environment

Senior Biomedical Engineer

Job Summary:

The Senior Biomedical Engineer is responsible for providing expert technical advice on developing the specification for equipment and infrastructure needs of the selected hospitals to capacitate them to use liquid medical oxygen (LOX). The incumbent will identify the technical assistance needs of the selected hospitals to install and maintain LOX equipment and infrastructure; identify the need and details of the LOX system sustainability plan for targeted hospitals; provide technical expertise and assistance to Global Fund/ MoH Procurement Unit, including quality assurance during PSA plant installation. The Senior Biomedical Engineer will do the above in consultation with MoH officials, MoH Biomedical Engineers, the existing national oxygen task force, and key stakeholders such as CHAI, PATH, and RTC.



Key Responsibilities:

Conduct a readiness assessment of the selected hospitals’ needs with the supplier, Ministry of Health, and stakeholders in terms of specifications in piping, site suitability (safety and engineering suitability), and requirements for liquid oxygen tank installation.
Review and finalize the needs for infrastructure and equipment upgrades for select hospitals in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
Support Ministry of Health and Global Fund in Quality Assurance checks on the installation of PSA plants.
Support procurement process, appropriate installation of Liquid Oxygen System, and piping networks in prioritized wards to deliver medical oxygen to outlets at patients’ beds.
Collaborate with the Ministry of Health to develop technical guidance and SOPs on supervision, maintenance, and monitoring of the LOX system.
Collaborate with government agencies and international partners to outline national regulatory processes for transportation and use of LOX in Malawi.
Facilitate training and capacity building of biomedical staff (Engineers and Technicians) to ensure sustainable maintenance of the LOX equipment, monitoring and safe delivery of oxygen, and facilitation of supervisory and mentorship visits to LOX infrastructure sites.
Facilitate training of Health Facility staff on safety precautions and daily operations of LOX system.
Coordinate the development of a sustainability plan for LOX supply, use, and maintenance.
Support facilities to develop LOX sustainability plans in collaboration with the MoH, and key stakeholders
Work closely with the facilities Medical Officer in charge and zonal Senior Biomedical Engineers to document and submit quarterly project success stories.
Contribute to all USAID reporting deliverables, including but not limited to quarterly reports, annual reports, and work plans.
Represent the project in relevant technical working groups with Government, stakeholders, and implementing partners as required.



Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering with 7 – 9 years of related experience; OR
Master’s degree related to health technology products. At least 5 – 7 years of relevant experience in regulating health technology products with a focus on medical oxygen
Extensive experience with medical oxygen systems, particularly in liquid medical oxygen equipment and infrastructure
Considerable experience in developing standard technical specifications, manuals for medical devices, quality testing references, assessment of technical files before listing, and performance of quality audits for medical device manufacturers

Qualifications and Skills:

Knowledge of health and development programs in Malawi, including familiarity
with relevant national guidelines, standards, and protocols.
Familiarity with the Malawi Public Health sector at regional, district, and council levels and experience working with these teams.
Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision.

PROJECT SUMMARY

Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is a five-year global project funded by the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The goal for EpiC is to achieve and maintain epidemic control through strategic technical assistance to improve HIV prevention, case finding, care, and treatment programming in countries supported by PEPFAR. EpiC is led by FHI 360 with core partners Population Services International (PSI), Palladium Group, Right to Care, and Gobee Group. In Malawi, EpiC focuses on key and priority populations in the HIV program.



POSITION SUMMARY

The Health Informatics Specialist will be part of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team for the Epic program and will work under the supervision of the Senior M&E Advisor. He/she will provide overall technical leadership on the development, implementation and maintenance of the DHIS2 trackers/databases for program monitoring. The position will manage interoperability of country office DHIS2 tracker with national reporting systems. He/she will manage and maintain servers and configure updates to DHIS2. The position will also lead capacity building to the project staff and implementing partners to ensure high reporting rates in the system and data use for decisions. He/she will use APIs to pull data into data visualization softwares such as PowerBI. Possession of GIS skills will be an added advantage.

Develop and design a functional DHIS2 tracker database for collecting, organizing and analyzing individual-level client service uptake across HIV continuum of care.
Develop, modify and maintain forms and interfaces for data entry into the DHIS2 trackers and create specific report formats and reporting tools as per project specifications and guidelines.
Build the capacity of project staff and the implementing partners in database utilization, data management and reporting.
Work with the rest of M&E team to coordinate data entry of service and training data at the implementing partners’ level.
Extract data and share with the M&E team for analysis and reporting to ensure continuous program performance improvement and meet reporting requirements.
Prepare and extract monthly performance data from the DHIS2 tracker for entry into EpiC’s global DHIS2 aggregate ‘Infolink’ database and for data visualization using Power BI.
Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with upper management, external

stakeholders etc.

Design and implement interoperability mechanism between country office DHIS2 tracker and national HIV data reporting systems for key populations.
Provide technical support in management of all project databases and electronic platforms to meet reporting requirements.
Manage and maintain servers and configure updates to DHIS2 tracker databases.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor and program leadership.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES, EXPERTISE AND COMPLEXITY

Experience in setting up, implement and maintain DHIS2-based databases and other management information systems including the use of electronic medical records (EMR).
Experience in building the capacity of project staff, implementing partners and other stakeholders in database use and general data management standards.
Experience in data cleaning, extraction and exporting for analysis and reporting.
Experience in conceptualizing and developing digital health solutions is an added advantage
Ability to maintain data security and confidentiality for the program beneficiaries.
Working knowledge of USAID and Malawi ministry of health data requirements and information systems such as DATIM and other reporting platforms.
Good planning and organizational skills.
Tact and diplomacy in dealing with implementing partners.
Knowledge in GIS will be an added advantage.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENT STANDARDS

Master’s degree in Information Technology with 3-5 years’ experience or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Biostatistics, Mathematics or related field with 5-7 years’ experience.
Computer proficiency in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, including advanced skills in DHIS2 customization, MySQL, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MS Access, Excel.
Demonstrated experience with Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) including DHIS2.
Comprehensive understanding of HIV/AIDS Programming and PEPFAR indicators.

Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through informal and formal trainings.
