Are you hosting a youth event in Malawi and in need of a speaker on various health issues? I recommend Josephine Kalombola, who previously worked with me at mothers2mothers Malawi as an adolescent mentor mother and spokeswoman for the Malawi office.

Josephine is a passionate young lady capable of discussing a variety of health topics. Last month, I reached out to her to give a menstrual hygiene talk to primary school girls for our Rotary Club event, and she delivered it with great professionalism.

We received excellent feedback from the girls, mothers, and other Rotarians in attendance regarding her talk. Being a youth herself, she was able to relate well with the girls and kept them engaged, making the session interactive.

Today was a monumental day as we launched and held the 1st general meeting for Women Drs Association in Malawi(WDAM). We were honoured to also have 3 of the first Malawian female Drs in attendance_ Dr Jean A.N Kalilani, Gr Grace Malenga & Dr Marjorie Chaponda as we paid homage to our pioneer female drs. We also elected our Board of Trustees, of which i was fortunate to be selected as the Chairperson, we look forward to contributing positively to the development and growth of the health sector and Malawi as a whole.

The inaugural AGM for Women Doctors Association in Malawi is happening this Sat 3rd May 2025 and for the official launch we have the inspirational Dr Jean AN Kalilani _ one of the pioneer Malawian female doctors as our Guest of Honour as well as the amazing Dr Kelita Kamoto _a trail blazing Malawian female doctor as our Key Note Speaker. Looking forward to this event and many more to come as we bring together the women doctors community in Malawi.

This coming weekend we will be launching the Women Drs Association of Malawi, and one of the exciting aspects is thr opportunity to bring women drs from different generations to network and learn from each other. Our Keynote Speaker Dr Kelita Kamoto has over 30 yrs of experience working as a medical doctor in various capacities in the Malawi health sector. Its such an honour to have her as part of our launch event.

Last week i was a guest speaker at the fundraising dinner sharing on the role others have played in my educational journey. It was surrealto reflect on my story. Uncles, aunts & other well wishors have all contributed funds and resources to ensure i moved from Zingwangwa to Harvard. As EducationTrust launched their Empower Her Campaign and Secondary School Scholarship Fund aimed at educating 10,000 girls & boys in Malawi we hope there eill be more storiesxof success like mine. For approx Mk350,000 or just $26/ £19 can cover fees, books etc to send a student to secondary school for a full year. Support education of our future doctors, lawyers, leaders etc.

This past weekend, my colleague and friend Pam Kuwali hosted a fitness session to fundraise for mother and newborns at Bwaila hospital. Instead of gifts for her birthday she asked us to donate to the maternity ward in Bwaila. She asked me t give a talk on renewing pur commitmrnt to wellness. As someone who previously used to regularly keep fit, i spoke of my journey after my illness and how i have had to see my experience in a different light. From bring unable to mpve at all, to being able to at least stand n limp walk l referenced book Crushing on how i view my current state. I believe iam being crushed into a better,stronger n valuable version of myself.
