🌍 World TB Day 2026 – “Yes! We Can End TB: Led by countries, powered by people “
TB GAPS is working in five CDC-priority Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries with high TB, and increased HIV burden: Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Tanzania, and Uganda. This project is generating substantial evidence to advocate for robust care to improve outcomes for those who are diagnosed with TB and people living with HIV who are also diagnosed with TB. In addition, TB GAPS impacts the broader population as it aims to prevent the spread of TB and HIV in communities and countries most impacted by these infectious diseases.
Regarding Baylor Foundation Malawi Children’s Centre of Excellence, TB GAPS study has transformed how we fight tuberculosis in our clinic ;
🔬 Stronger diagnostics – from advanced procedures like gastric aspirates and sputum induction in children to faster, more reliable testing such as 10 color gene Xpert Machine .
👩⚕️ Clinical Team leading the way – ensuring even the youngest patients get accurate diagnosis and timely care.
💊 Lives restored – very sick patients now recover fully, returning to their families, communities, and contributing to national development.
📈 Impact beyond health – every recovery strengthens communities, reduces poverty, and fuels progress.
