The cholera crisis is presently a serious problem and keeps getting worse with new cases increasing every day, especially in Blantyre and Lilongwe where schools remain suspended.

Christian Youth Association of Malawi (CYAMA) continue to sensitize and raise awareness of cholera and gives communities the information and support they need to protect themselves from the disease. We applaud government, development partners and NGOs who are on the ground supporting efforts to increase people’s access to clean water, hygiene as well as promote the cholera vaccine.

We continue to pray for health care workers who are tirelessly working to treat patients in all treatment centers.

Climate change is a global challenge that needs immediate and continuous interventions in the interest of blending humanity and nature. Tree planting is without doubt an initiative towards achieving unity between the forests, climate and mankind.

Christian Youth Association of Malawi (CYAMA) calls on the general public especially young people to join the efforts to plant more trees during this season.

We also urge government, NGOs, CSOs, FBOs, CBOs and all groups and individuals doing this exercise to note that tree planting is more than a visibility event but efforts to help curb the impact of climate change on our environment.

Today, 15th October, 2022 the vice Chairperson of Africa Region, Rev. Mary Mwiche Zulu visited the offices of SCM Malawi where WSCF secretariat is located.

She met the WSCF- AfricaAfrica Regional Executive, Christopher Chimangeni and some SCM representatives namely; Pastor MacDuff Nkhoma, Gloria Meja, Lyson Sakala, Comfort Kachingwe and Isaac Bwanali. It was noted that some SCMers went to attend a wedding ceremony of their colleague and the 5 joined their friends later after the meeting.

Among other issues, she motivated the SCMers by narrating her story on how she got involved in the Zambia SCM way back in 1991.

The vice Chairperson then urged movement members to have faith as a behaviour. She said that the existence of the movement signifies the preaching of the gospel.

She further motivated and encouraged the SCMers to be proactive. “Don’t despair, don’t lose and hold on despite facing challenges,” she said.

As a way forward, the meeting suggested that we should at least think of organizing a sub-regional leadership workshop sponsored by SCMers themselves.

Tentatively this has been scheduled for April next year.

Being a Mothers Day in Malawi, Reverend Mwiche was presented with Mothers Day Celebration Chitenje as a gift.
