CCAP Nkhoma Synod Health Department invites applications from suitably qualified and well experienced applicants for the position of Perioperative Quality Assurance Officer (Grade I) tenable at Nkhoma Mission Hospital in Lilongwe District. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Collecting perioperative data from surgical procedures, focusing on perioperative metrics, patient outcomes, and procedural efficiency.
Inputting, organizing, and analysing data to track trends, identify areas for improvement, and support informed decision-making.
Ensuring data accuracy and completeness, following established protocols and quality standards.
Collaborating with the lead anesthesiologist from AIC Kijabe Hospital and local hospital leadership to identify areas of improvement within perioperative care and develop action plans.
Implementing quality improvement projects, including establishing benchmarks, monitoring progress, and adjusting strategies as needed.
Training perioperative staff on quality improvement processes and best practices.
Monitoring of educational initiatives.
Monitoring of implementation of perioperative protocols.
Acting as a liaison between the local operating theatre staff and the lead anesthesiologist, ensuring timely communication of updates, feedback, and procedural changes.
Facilitating meetings, share relevant data insights, and promoting a collaborative environment between the QA program and the perioperative team.
Ensuring adherence to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements in all perioperative processes.
Ensuring regularly review and updating protocols to align with quality and safety best practices.
Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Receiving orders from Hospital departments and all Hospital health centres.
2. Ensuring that all drugs and medical supplies are available in all departments and health centres.
3. Managing Pharmaceutical inventory at the Hospital warehouse, and dispensary in co-operation with Pharmacy staff and other relevant officers.

12. Advising patients on how to take medicines correctly and safely to achieve the best outcome.
13. Establishing and revising the Hospital formulary, and ensuring that all providers are following Nkhoma Hospital and National treatment guidelines.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Driving Hospital Ambulances and other utility vehicles as assigned.
• Ferrying patients from and to the Hospital.
• Driving staff on duty.
• Making sure the vehicle is road worthy i.e. it has triangle reflectors, jerk, wheel spanner, fire extinguisher, first aid box, functioning ho**er, working lights, etc.
• Ensuring that vehicles are securely locked and parked at safe places within the Hospital premises.
• Checking oil, water, pressure, mirrors, licences, insurances, gauges, before starting off and provide reports of any anomalies.
• Ensuring prompt reporting of any fault observed on the vehicle he/she is driving.
• Reporting on vehicles attracting unusually high maintenance costs.
• Providing mileage and amount of fuel used per vehicle.
• Making sure that each vehicle always has a vehicle logbook and they are properly, accurately and consistently filled in.
• Preparing vehicles for COF and for service.

• Following up on Police Vehicle accidents reports.

CCAP Nkhoma Synod Health Department invites applications from qualified and well experienced applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant to join us as we expand our Physician Training Programs and move towards our vision as a teaching Hospital. The Hospital added Surgical Training (PAACS) alongside our Family Medicine Training Program, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing general Administrative and Secretarial support to both Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) and Family Medicine (FM) training programs. The programs are aimed at training Medical Doctors to become Surgeons and Family Medicine Specialists. The training is open to both local and international Doctors.

The Administrative Assistant will report to the Director of Medical Education but will work closely with all faculty heads in the two programs.

Job Purpose
The Administrative Assistant will be working alongside with our doctors and make the learning centre an excellent cornerstone of learning and teaching at Nkhoma Hospital by providing general administrative and Secretarial support to the training programs.

This is a two-year employment and renewable upon availability of funds and satisfactory performance.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing logistics and coordination of space and resources for Nkhoma Mission Hospitals’ advanced medical training programs:
• Maintains schedule for the Learning Centre activities ie teachings, guiding visiting students who need study time and space.
• Keeps the Learning Centre and its resources in good working order and reports maintenance needs: Oversees use of computers, enforces limits on usage of internet and controls noise according to Learning Centre Policy.
• Ensures that breakroom and printing/internet services are appropriately stocked and accessible for residents and faculty.
• Coordinates with Administration and Accounts Department for purchases for Learning Centre and Training Programs.

Assisting with all personnel arrangements for the training programs:
• Organizes schedules, report and other paperwork for Family Medicine and PAACS Residents.
• Assists Registrars with logistics for Health Centre visitations,
• Organizes logistics for residency events such as retreats and conferences
• Liaises with HR Office to ensure that visiting PAACS or COSECSA residents have appropriate Malawian VISAs, Medical Licenses and credentials.
• Liaises with Human Resource office to ensure that PAACS and Family Medicine houses are properly managed according to the Hospital Housing Policy.
• Maintains a multi-year calendar and schedule together with Program Director.
As the training programs grow, the duties of this position may be expanded to include:
• Maintains and submits quarterly General Surgery PAACS budget.
• Works with Hospital Finance Department for detailed tracking and monitors all project accounts.

This is a three-year (36months) employment contract subject to renewal based on overall efficiency, conduct and diligence with which the employee is discharging his/her duties as well as the overall performance and availability of funding.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Controlling fractionating columns compressors, purifying towers, heat exchangers and related equipment to extract nitrogen oxygen from air for industrial therapeutic use.
2. Turning valves in specified sequence to control flow of air through series of units that compress and liquefy it, removing carbon dioxide and impurities and separate resulting product into oxygen.
3. Observing pressure, temperature, level and flow gauges to make sure there is standard operation.
4. Testing oxygen for purity and moisture content at various stages of process using burettes moisture meter.
5. Adjusting equipment according to test results and knowledge of process equipment.
6. Opening valves to transfer liquid or gaseous oxygen through heat exchanger to cool air, to heat and vaporize liquid oxygen, and to store gaseous or liquid oxygen in storage tanks at specified temperature pressure.
7. Turning valves to transfer compressed oxygen to storage cylinders.
8. Cleaning and making minor repairs equipment, like replacing defective valves and removing carbon from valves, using hand tools air hose.
9. Recording gauge readings test results.
10. Adhering to the professional code of conduct and Ethics.
11. Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

1. Applicants should have relevant trade test certificates for any of Craft I, II and III.
2. A diploma in Biomedical Engineering is an added advantage.
3. Applicants must be fluent in English and must be willing to be on duty during the night.

Note: All applicants should be conversant with the teachings and traditions of CCAP Nkhoma Synod.
