International Alliance for Umunthu Theatre IAUT continuously investigates new ways of
storytelling and change-making through the arts.

International Alliance for Umunthu Theatre (IAUT) is a group of skilled theatre
practitioners (Actors, Actresses, Directors and playwrights) with expertise in stage
drama, Theatre for Development” TFD” (participatory theatre) and film. InterAlliance for Umunthu Theatre (IUAT) founded in 2006 thrives with the application
of the Umunthu lens as a philosophy to interrogate and respond to social
chall

enges humans face in their day to day lives. IAUT is committed to promoting
the Umunthu philosophy; promoting good health, human rights and democracy,
reducing inequalities, quality education, promoting gender equality and
empowerment of the youth. International Alliance for Umunthu Theatre is also involved in theatre for
advocacy, filmmaking and capacity building in the arts.

Theodore Pleasant Banda is a passionate Theatre practitioner and a filmmaker who specializes in directing, acting and script writing.

Pleasant is a holder of an accounting diploma from ICAM-THE INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS IN MALAWI .

In his career, Pleasant has contributed a lot in the Malawi Theatre industry, having starred in and directed over 20 theatre productions from 2012 till date. Some of the notable projects he has worked on include Waiting for Godot which he worked with Mwezi arts Operation Mandala 1915 which he directed and starred under RISE ARTS , Lost But Found which he directed and starred under Rise Arts and which was performed in Harare, Zimbabwe at the SAFE Festival, NYANGU which was performed at the Jacaranda Festival (Lusaka Play House, Zambia), Bwabwalala with WAZ arts and Prison Catastrophe which he toured with Paragon Arts. He has also worked us a director in several secondary school drama clubs.

Pleasant is thrilled to be part of "Nyambose Goes To Town" a production that addresses pressing issues faced by Malawians everyday. As part of the International Alliance for Umunthu Theatre team, they aim to shine a spotlight on the realities of life and provoke meaningful conversations about societal challenges.

Alinafe Chikoko KellieEclipse is an Educationist and theatre practitioner.

Kellie holds a Bachelor of Education (languages) Degree from University of Malawi - UNIMA

His artistic portfolio includes Productions for broadcast, stage, radio, film and schools. He has worked with story workshop on both film and radio productions. He is also a director at Inter-Alliance for Umunthu theatre. He has been the President of Chanco Travelling-Theatre during his University days. He is also the Director for "Agalu Awiri" the NASFEST 2023/24 winner.

Shantel Mgawana is a multi-talented individual, with a background in the arts and health. With a Bachelor's degree in Optometry Honour's from Mzuzu University she combines her passion for healthcare with her love for the performing arts.Having excelled as an actress and a director of the Mzuzu University Theatre Heights Ensemble-MUTHE acting group, Shantel demonstrated her leadership skills and artistic vision. Her experience in directing has enhanced her understanding of theatrical storytelling, making her a valuable asset to any production. She took both directing and leading role in some of the stageplays MUTHE has ever showcased at the institution such as The Blue-tick affair, For the love of Nelia and Loliwe.Shantel has been eager to showcase her skills from the first show that's why she gave an electric performance in Blantyre and promises even more for the Lilongwe audience. Her desire to be featured in the stage play "Nyambose Goes to Town" showcases her commitment to the craft and her willingness to explore new roles and narratives.
