PROSTATE ENLARGEMENT

GOOD EVENING

Tonight our topic is about the prostate grand. This is one of the small grands or organ that is found below the bradder .This organ is found in the body of all men.

So some of you might be wondering why are we discussion this organ ,yes it's very important to discuss it today because as most men starts to reach about 50 years ,the prostate grand sometimes enlarges as well and the fact that it is located below the bladder ,when it enlarges it presses on the urethra and the man will start to have difficulties in urination.Such us the following:-

So why do men develop this problem , ok the cause is not really known but most Drs agree that it's because of aging, and also some changes in the prostate cells,as well as changes in the levels of testosterone.

EPILEPSY

In our communities we have brothers and sisters who have Epilepsy. The sad thing is that these people face some kind of stigma. In the community people call them alot of names. And when people just hear someone has epilepsy they start to deassociate, and others do many other bad things to people who suffer from this condition. To address some of these issues that people with Epilepsy face this page will Educate about Epilepsy to that we can be knowledgeable to help our brothers and sisters.

SO WHAT IS EPILEPSY?

In simplest terms it is condition in which a person will have seizures that manifests as shaking of whole body stiffening of arms ,legs, tongue bitting, loss of consciousness and Convulsions. In Chichewa some say it is "Matenda akugwa Khunyu".I am not sure If that is the correct way to call this disease. But I believe you know it now.

Studies have found out that 2.8 to 5.2%
have epilepsy in Malawi and that 90% of people with Epilepsy in sub Saharan African are untreated. Most of the people who suffer from this disease can live a normal productive life if they are taking their medications properly to prevent occurrence of seizures.
People who have epilepsy have their INTELLIGENCE INTACT.This means that if we take care, help them adhere to their drugs they can do ,perform most of the tasks/Jobs like any other person. For example they can be Dr,Teachers, etc and other professions that we may think of.

CAUSES OF EPILEPSY

Stroke
Brain tumour
Severe head injury
Drug abuse or alcohol misuse
Brain infection
Lack of oxygen during birth.

PREVENTION OF INJURY TO PEOPLE WITH EPILEPSY
1.Avoid leaving them alone when there is fire (Mbaula etc)
2.Help them take their medications without stopping.
3.Avoid leaving them alone near water sources like river, lake etc.
4.During a Seizure (akhala akugwa) make sure you remove anything that can harm them ,do not insert anything in their mouth.
6.Visit nearest hospital for medical assistance and control of seizures.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
A person with epilepsy can lead a normal life just like any other person.
Let's stop stigma towards people with epilepsy ,let's help them to lead normal
Life by helping ,taking them to hospital to control occurrence of Seizures. In government
Hospital there is a special clinic for people with epilepsy called NCD clinic, let's take our brother and sisters to these clinics.

PEP and PrEP

HIV is a virus that when it infects a person it destroys the immune system. This makes a person to be susceptible to various diseases. As of today this virus does not have a cure.

According to the world health organization about 51 million people have died globally due to HIV.

This is why HIV is still considered one of the killer diseases world wide. But when infected with the virus do not loose hope because powerful ARVs are available to restore the body immunity.

So What is PEP?

PEP(Post Exposure Prophylaxis) means protection after being exposed to HIV.So in this context PEP are drugs given to a person who has been exposed to HIV either through S*x or other through other high risk body fluids like semen,va**nal fluids blood etc

For PEP to work effectively it is supposed to be taken within 72 hour after exposure to HIV.

PEP is available at all government hospitals for free.Yes is it free and you can be protected from HIV if you are exposed to HIV if you are still within 72 hours from the exposure.

That is all about PEP .

Now what is PrEP?

PrEP(Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) means protecting yourself from HIV before HIV exposure either through unprotected s*x or through other high risk body fluids mentioned above.

Yes you can go to any government hospitals and request for PrEP if you are a person who is at a high risk of HIV for example you have s*x with alot of people and you do not want to be infected with HIV ,you can go to any government hospital they will give you drugs to help you protect yourself from HIV.

In Summary PEP are drugs used for HIV protection after HIV exposure and should be taken within 72 hours after the exposure. And PrEP is the opposite of PEP ,PrEP are drugs used for protection from HIV before HIV Exposure.

Thanks alot I tried to keep it simple , questions and comments are welcome .For more personal questions please ask in the page inbox or contact me on my Whatsapp number below.
