Life itself is movement, and stagnation usually means death wether literal or metaphorical. Most people walk into couples therapy ready to argue their case, not understand it. That’s the problem.

Individual counseling acts as calibration. You identify your patterns, triggers, blind spots, and—more importantly—what you actually want out of the relationship. Without that, couples therapy turns into two people debating symptoms instead of addressing causes.

When you’ve already done that groundwork, you show up to couples therapy with clarity, emotional regulation, and defined goals. Sessions stop being chaotic or reactive and start becoming surgical—focused, efficient, and productive.

This is an extremely good visual representation of what the therapeutic process feels like to many people who look for any kind of psychological support.
