On one hand, the days of “blank slates” are long gone: clients want to know where you stand AND they expect you to be ethical.

On the other hand, even though social media can be a great way to build your caseload and community, everything does not need to be posted!

If you’re still trying to figure out how to manage your social media ethically and build your caseload, join us on 3/13 for Dating, DMs, & Dual Roles: Modern Social Media Ethics for Trauma-Informed Clinicians.

What do you do when your client requests to follow you on Instagram?

Or you see their profile while swiping through a dating app?

Or you run into them at a small community gathering?

These aren’t rare possibilities anymore and the ethical frameworks many of us trained with didn’t account for the speed and porousness of social media.

If you’re craving a space to examine the ethical complexities that social media and technology introduce into clinical work, I invite you to join our 2-hour CEU on Dating, DMs, & Dual Roles: Modern Ethics for Trauma-Informed Clinicians on 3/13!

What You’ll Learn:

🤎 Identify and analyze the unique ethical challenges social media and technology present for therapists, including boundary ambiguity, visibility, and overlapping relational contexts.

🤎 Develop and implement a personalized social media and technology policy that aligns with your ethical codes of conduct and reflects your actual practice context.

🤎 Apply ethical decision-making frameworks to evaluate complex, real-world examples involving dual relationships encountered through social media, dating apps, and niched communities.

🤎 Identify key ethical standards to maintain client confidentiality in digital spaces, including what to do when boundaries have already been crossed or blurred.

*This training is eligible for 2 Continuing Education Credits for Psychologists, NBCC Counselors, and New York LMHCs, LCSWs, and LMSWs.

Now that social media has become one of the most used marketing channels amongst therapists, the boundaries between our personal lives and professional lives have become blurred.

With dating apps.
With online communities.
So how do we proceed ethically?

Whether you’re a seasoned clinician adapting new technologies or a newer professional establishing your social media platform, this course will support you in developing tools, policies, and an ethical framework needed to navigate the complex terrain of modern clinical practice.

In honor of Black History Month, here are five influential Black women in the mental health field. They have helped make the field of mental health what it is today for women and folk of color.

They continue to prove that identity, history, and social context all shape how we experience the world and how we heal.

Which of these scholars have influenced your work or perspective?

S*x is everywhere. Yet in the therapy room, it’s the topic no one wants to bring up 🫢

When clinicians haven’t been trained to talk about sexuality, clients might assume it’s not important… or worse, feel judged by ideas of what’s “normal.” 🤨

And when clinicians ARE trained, most of the sexuality training centers the white male experience.

There’s a major gap in culturally competent care. And we’re here to change that.

In our upcoming CEU on February 20th, .donnaoriowo will teach us why understanding Black women’s sexuality is essential to their overall well-being and how our own discomfort can become barriers to the conversations our clients desperately need.
