𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 are what we need to navigate life’s heaviest seasons.

I’m so excited to share last month’s piece, "A Life Raft Built of Memories," on 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸.

This is a very personal project, a collection of accounts on how I navigate grief through the lens of my yoga practice. Learning how to build a resilient heart that isn't just about physical strength, but about the emotional flexibility to stay afloat when the waters get choppy.

𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 is a powerful indicator of a long, vibrant life. But there's a deeper layer in the heart of this practice.

While we work on techniques to stand steady on one leg, we’re also exploring Atma Kshama, the practice of 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 and patience.

Because the truth is, a long and happy life requires a broader 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: the ability to be strong without becoming rigid. To have a "resilient health span," we need to be able to weather our internal storms with as much grace as we do a tricky transition on the mat.

Let’s practice the art of "re-scaffolding." We’ll build the physical stability to live long, while cultivating the inner tenderness to live well.

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗲...

When we talk about 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗘 strength, we tend to think about six-pack abs and tight tummies. But if we’re talking about 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗬, actually staying mobile and feeling good in our bodies years from now, we have to talk about the 𝗣𝗘𝗟𝗩𝗜𝗖 𝗙𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗥.

A healthy pelvic floor isn't just about clenching randomly. In fact, for some of us, the problem can be that we’re holding too much tension as well.

Here's why 𝗣𝗘𝗟𝗩𝗜𝗖 𝗙𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗥 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛 is a game-changer for your yoga practice (and life):

🫶The Shock Absorber: It’s your body’s trampoline. It catches the weight of your organs every time you step, run, or jump, saving your hips and lower back from taking the hit.

🫶The "Sneezing" Situation: We joke about it, but functional pelvic floor strength means you can laugh, jump, and sneeze with total confidence.

🫶Posture Support: True height starts at the base. A responsive pelvic floor naturally zips your spine into alignment so you aren't "muscling" your posture.

🫶Better Breathing: Your diaphragm and your pelvic floor are actually "BFFs," they move together.

It’s not about more effort; it’s about better awareness. We’re simply learning to notice the grip, feel the release, and find the rhythm in between.

It’s certainly not the most "glamorous" part of yoga (or aging!), but it’s the part that keeps us in the game for the long haul.
