From JAMA: Meta-analysis of three randomized clinical trials involving patients with with mildly reduced or reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF/HFrEF) demonstrated that digitalis glycosides lowered the risk of a composite outcome of cardiovascular death or first worsening heart failure event by approximately 15%.
The primary benefit was a reduction in worsening heart failure events, with no significant effect on all-cause mortality. The efficacy was consistent regardless of digitalis glycoside type or extent of background heart failure therapy.
