. My reiki background: I am a seasoned practitioner, trained to the reiki master level, with more than 10 years of experience. As a reiki volunteer for two years at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, MA, I gave reiki to a variety of patients, including those there were post-operative, had cancer or other serious illnesses. I have also provided reiki to hospice clients to help ease pain, fear and anxiety during the last days and moments of life, including providing reiki to family members during this time. SANSKRIT MANTRA CHANTING
Mantras are the repetition of words and phrases of special significance that can be repeated either out loud or internally. They have the energetic ability to affect healing, creativity and spiritual well-being. All of the spiritual paths have some version of mantra practice. Mantra's work with both sound and vibration. By saying a mantra you are literally tuning yourself to resonate at a certain vibrational frequency. By repeating a mantra we introduce the vibrational frequency of that mantra into ourselves, so that we, too, begin to resonate with the words and vibration of the mantra. The power of mantras comes from their direct vibrational effect on our body’s physiological and energetic systems. These sacred sounds can encourage very real changes in both your inner and outer worlds. There are specific mantras used for example to clear your mind, dispel fear, break unhealthy habits, attract abundance, enhance your creativity and intensify any meditation practice. The sessions are open to all who are interested in learning more about mantras and in chanting with others. No previous experience is necessary. Based on the intention of what you're working to transform or heal in your life, we'll choose mantras to chant. Chanting in a group exponentially heightens the effect and benefit of the mantras. My chanting background: I started studying Sanskrit Mantra in 2009 with the late Namadeva Acharya/Thomas Ashley-Farrand, a Vedic priest and renowned scholar and teacher of Sanskrit Mantra. Since his passing, I continue with teachers who follow his lineage: Bill Francis Barry, Theresa Thompson, and Gerri Shanti DeSimone. I have worked in the public health field for more than 20 years as an infectious disease epidemiologist, program and project manager, and researcher. As an independent public health consultant, I have supported several Covid-related projects. I was drawn to reiki and chanting after a cancer diagnosis in 2005 for support with the various physical and emotional symptoms I was experiencing. I subsequently developed a passion for both and sought training to become a practitioner to offer reiki and chanting to others.
