Mental illness in the Church is a real thing. I confess that I used to believe mental illness was a result of sin…I have since repented that, because it’s idiotic. Mental illness can be a chemical imbalance or in my case depression that was diagnosed in 1996 and never went away. What I thought was a “healing of depression” was peace in my heart through Christ, but the medical diagnosis for depression remains! Extraordinary affliction will bring forth severe anxiety and even panic - that’s normal for a human body to respond with “fight or flight.” Loss and grief still causes sadness that requires a watchful eye for someone with a history of severe depression. In today’s age of natural disasters and wars, both anxiety and depression can result if that’s all we think about 😳 That’s just the reality we live in today. I believe the stressors and demands in life are greater than they were 20 and even 10 years ago. Be encouraged my Christian brother or sister…Jesus knows our anxieties, fears, and hopelessness. He cares about mental illness. I know He cares, because i have suffered extreme mental, emotional, and spiritual harassment recently, and God is my peace and my portion. That’s what my Bible says and my Comforter the Holy Spirit affirms this. God wants us to be courageous probably because fear and anxiety will come. He asks that wee trust, because loss of hope is around the corner. Trust that Jesus Christ knows mental anguish as is written about in the gospels in the Garden of Gethsemane where he sweat blood from the distress He was in. Christ understands our human minds and wants us to be comforted in His promises of peace.
La enfermedad mental en la Iglesia es algo real. Confieso que solía creer que la enfermedad mental era el resultado del pecado... Desde entonces me he arrepentido, porque es una idiotez. La enfermedad mental puede ser un desequilibrio químico o, en mi caso, una depresión que me diagnosticaron en 1996 y nunca desapareció. Lo que pensé que era una “sanidad de la depresión” fue paz en mi corazón a través de Cristo, ¡pero el diagnóstico médico de la depresión permanece! Una aflicción extraordinaria provocará una ansiedad severa e incluso pánico; eso es normal que el cuerpo humano responda con “lucha o huida”. La pérdida y el duelo todavía causan tristeza que requiere vigilancia en alguien con un historial de depresión grave. En la era actual de desastres naturales y guerras, pueden surgir tanto ansiedad como depresión si eso es todo en lo que pensamos 😳 Esa es simplemente la realidad en la que vivimos hoy. Creo que los factores estresantes y las exigencias de la vida son mayores que hace 20 e incluso 10 años. Anímate, mi hermano o hermana cristiana… Jesús conoce nuestras ansiedades, miedos y desesperanza. Le preocupan las enfermedades mentales. Sé que a Él le importa, porque recientemente he sufrido un acoso mental, emocional y espiritual extremo, y Dios es mi paz y mi porción. Eso es lo que dice mi Biblia y mi Consolador el Espíritu Santo lo afirma. Dios quiere que seamos valientes probablemente porque vendrán el miedo y la ansiedad. Pide que confiemos, porque la pérdida de la esperanza está a la vuelta de la esquina. Confía en que Jesucristo conoce la angustia mental como está escrito sobre en los evangelios en el Huerto de Getsemaní donde sudó sangre por la angustia en la que se encontraba. Cristo comprende nuestra mente humana y quiere que seamos consolados en sus promesas de paz.
