If we guys don’t start thinking about this, it will kill us shortly.⠀
⠀
Sounds creepy?⠀
I came across an interesting article. Basically nothing new, but…. 👇🏼⠀

You eat a credit card's worth of plastic in a week. ⠀
⠀
Microplastics have been confirmed in human blood, lung tissue, colons, placentas, stool, and breast milk. ⠀
Microplastics can move into the lymphatic and circulatory systems and bioaccumulate in secondary organs as well as impact the immune system and cell health.⠀
Once in the body, these chemicals can be released, potentially leading to cancer, chronic inflammation, or other unknown effects. ⠀
⠀
There is no way to avoid microplastics. They're in the air we breathe, the products we use, the water we drink, and the food we eat. ⠀
⠀
Plastic makes up 80 percent of all debris in the world's oceans. And this plastic doesn't disappear. Instead, it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces known as microplastics and nanoplastics.⠀
⠀
Experts think that by 2050, the amount of plastic in the ocean will weigh more than the amount of fish. ⠀
One in three sea turtles, and around 90% of seabirds, have eaten it. They can't digest plastic so their stomachs can become full, meaning they don't have room for actual food.⠀
Each year, 100,000 animals in the sea are killed by plastic.⠀
⠀
NYU professor Sherry Mason says plastic is already everywhere: "In the air, in the water, in the seafood, in the beer we drink, in the salt we use."⠀
⠀
The result is that the same waste that we throw away is returned to us back on the dining table along with food or water.⠀
⠀
A new study claims that 90% of all salt contains microplastics: tiny pieces of plastic from toys, make up, shopping bags, water bottles etc that get broken down into micro plastics as they are tossed around in the ocean. ⠀
⠀
Every day we have an alternative: buy mineral water in a glass or plastic bottle, take disposable paper utensils or plastic plates for a picnic, use reusable shopping bags or buy plastic ones. ⠀
Environmental concern or personal convenience? ⠀

The choice determines the level of a person's self-awareness 🙌🏼🤍
