Emily grew up in Sydney, Australia actively competing in athletics, mainly 100-meter sprints, touch football and many other sports. Already with a solid fitness background, two events in her youth inspired Emily to take up a natural therapies career. The first was seeing people in pain. Her mother suffered severe headaches that clearly referred from trigger points that Emily accidentally found as a teenager.
The second was being introduced to wholefoods and botanical medicine. Emily has a deep respect and connection with nature. She could see their benefits in promoting and maintaining health. Emily felt pushed by life to help people move through pain and support their overall wellbeing, and to this effect she studied Naturopathy and Massage at Nature Care College.
Emily graduated from Nature Care College in 1998 with an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy; Diplomas in Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Nutrition & Remedial Massage; Certificates in Iridology, Swedish Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Counseling & Bach Flower Remedies. She then practiced Naturopathy in a busy multi-disciplinary clinic in Sydney, and serendipitously created a successful corporate massage practice.
After 5 years it was time for an adventure. Emily travelled the world and landed in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico in the Riviera Maya. There, she settled, raised a family and continued to practice.
On return to Australia in 2014, Emily joined Balanced Life Osteopathy to work alongside Nick Florance, an outstanding Osteopath, while she updated her studies at the Endeavour College of Natural Health.
Throughout her studies and travels, yoga has been a fundamental support to Emily’s inner journey and wellness. She has had a personal yoga practice for the last 23 years and has completed various yoga teacher trainings with prominent teachers such as Michael Gannon, Rod Stryker, Dharma Mittra, Judith Laseter and Bryan Kest.
Emily has attended workshops to spend time with facilitator Mary Ann Winniger to deepen her personal growth and profound understanding of life by following her particular Strategy and Authority based on the Human Design Knowledge. She has travelled the world offering her experience of living her Strategy and Authority, teaching Trigger Point Therapy and giving sessions.
Emily continues to be fascinated with functional movement, through diet, yoga, cross training and hiking. She witnesses the importance of the right combination of self-massage, strength/flexibility training, functional movement re-patterning and continues to experience health and vitality in this way.
Her self-discovery is shared during her sessions. Emily empowers her clients to continue the work through offering self Trigger-point and Myofascial massage techniques and specific exercises if needed.
