Care tips for mahogany wood:
1. Immediately clean if stained. If any substance fell on the wood it is better to clean as quickly as possible.
2. Use a damp cloth. You can use some vinegar because it helps to take care of the wood naturally, avoid detergents.
3. Do not use abrasive cleaners. These cleaners leave important stains or discolorations on the wood.
4. Keep the wood always protected with some sealant or impregnating oil.
5. Find the best room temperature. Sudden changes in temperature do not help wood preservation.
6. Avoid humid environments. Do not wash it with too much water.

Tips para el cuidado de la madera caoba:

1. Inmediatamente limpiar si es manchada. Si alguna sustancia cayó en la madera es mejor limpiar lo más rápido posible.
2. Utilizar un paño húmedo. Puede utilizar un poco de vinagre porque ayuda a cuidadar la madera naturalmente, evitar los detergentes.
3. No usar limpiadores abrasivos. Estos limpiadores dejan manchas o decoloraciones importantes en la madera.
4. Conservar la madera siempre protegida con algún sellador o aceite impregnante.
5. Buscar la mejor temperatura ambiente. Los cambios bruscos de temperatura no ayudan a la conservación de la madera.
6. Evitar los ambientes húmedos. No lavarla con demasiada agua.

Restauración de madera con barnices.

El barniz disimula las imperfecciones de la superficie y protege los muebles de agentes exteriores, golpes y rayas, alargando la vida útil de la pieza. Conoce qué tipos y acabados son los más habituales, y elige el que más te convenga.

De origen natural, o de creación sintética, los barnices son un producto indispensable para proteger tus muebles y conseguir prolongar su vida durante muchos años. Siempre, claro está, conservando las piezas en un estado óptimo.

Las clasificaciones de barnices más frecuentes acostumbran a distinguir entre el efecto de acabado que consiguen para el mueble, y también entre la composición del producto.

Barnices según acabado
Según su acabado, puedes encontrar tres tipos de barnices: brillo, mate y satinado.

Brillo. Potencian el color de la madera, aunque también sus imperfecciones. Son muy resistentes, siempre que la superficie del mueble en cuestión no reciba la luz directa del sol.

Mate. Con similares características a los acabados brillantes, su peculiaridad consiste en que no reflejan la luz. Son también muy resistentes, y se utilizan frecuentemente en puertas y ventanas.

Satinado. A medio camino entre el brillo y el mate, se emplean en suelos y puertas cuando el efecto buscado es el de un brillo suave en las vetas. Su punto débil es que puede oscurecerse con el paso del tiempo.

Barnices según composición
Según su composición, puedes distinguir, principalmente, entre los barnices al aceite o al agua.

Al aceite. Fabricados con sustancias basados en aceites, se caracterizan por su resistencia, aunque su tonalidad amarillenta altera el color del mueble. Sus acabados puede ser brillantes, mates o satinados.

Al agua. Están formados por sustancias naturales o artificiales cuyo ingrediente disolvente base es el agua. Al ser transparentes, no alteran el color de la pieza. Sus acabados pueden ser brillantes o mates.

Además de éstas, existen otras clasificaciones, que distinguen, por ejemplo, entre su forma de aplicación y los tiempos de espera, o en el componente de color con que cuentan.

Varnishes according to finish:

Matte. With similar characteristics to glossy finishes, its peculiarity is that they do not reflect light. They are also very resistant, and are frequently used in doors and windows.

Varnishes according composition:
