A proposito di Kangaroo Baby Care la prima esperienza nella storia venne effettuata nel 1979 grazie a due pediatri, il Pof. Martinez e il Prof. Rey del reparto Materno-Infantile di Bogotà, costretti ad affidare, per carenza di incubatrici, i neonati, anche se di peso molto basso ma senza gravi patologie in atto, alle proprie madri. Questo metodo, comunque, era ed è comune tra le donne in Africa che mantengono il loro bambino giorno e notte, alternando la posizione verticale o prona, sul loro petto e alimentandolo al seno 'a domanda', anche durante il loro duro lavoro quotidiano. In caso di impossibilità materna un'altra donna si sostituisce svolgendo la stessa funzione garantendo al bambino un ottimo microclima che produce un effetto positivo sulla riduzione delle infezioni, problemi digestivi e mortalità perinatale.
About Kangaroo Baby Care, the first experience in history was carried out in 1979 thanks to two pediatricians, the Pof. Martinez and Prof. Rey of the Maternal-Infantile ward of Bogotà, forced to entrust, due to a lack of incubators, the newborns, even if of very low weight but without serious pathologies in progress, to their mothers. This method, however, was and is common among women in Africa who hold their baby day and night, alternating upright or prone, on their chest and breast feeding 'on demand', even during their daily hard work. In the event of maternal impossibility, another woman replaces herself by carrying out the same function, guaranteeing the child an excellent microclimate that produces a positive effect on the reduction of infections, digestive problems and perinatal mortality.
