Every Monday night at 7 pm we have a transformational dance, a free form dance that loosely explores different

ideas, like letting go of your beliefs for a moment, or finding what it is like to move in different ways and how that may expand your awareness of self, or what does "moving from your center" mean. The list is as infinite as movement is. It is also a space for other dancers, choreographers, actors, martial artists: anyone who is interested in using the space for transformational processes to consider home, and you are welcome to approach me about space usage for workshops or personal use. ✨ This week at The Nautilus Chamber, we’re proud to showcase the work of our current artist-in-residence, Hannah McCarthy. Visiting us from Nashville, TN, Hannah has created two powerful dance-theater works during her time in San Miguel: Cáscaras, a group piece, and It Gets Old, a solo.

Both works explore the importance of reconnecting with your inner truth and your community in times when personal agency is threatened by external forces.

Join us for an intimate evening of movement, vulnerability, and creative resistance. 🌿🖤

✨ Esta semana en The Nautilus Chamber, celebramos el trabajo de nuestra artista en residencia, Hannah McCarthy. Desde Nashville, TN, Hannah ha creado dos poderosas obras de teatro-danza durante su estancia aquí en San Miguel: Cáscaras, una pieza grupal, y It Gets Old, una obra en solitario.

Governor Pritzker of Illinois gives us the call to battle. Americans living in San Miguel de Allende, you know this town is the namesake for Ignacio Allende, who gave the call to battle against the Spanish, for which he was captured and executed, but without whom Mexico would not have become free. The time has come for all of us to step forward in any way that we can. Read this brave governor's call to action.

Rest in Power: Ballerina Michaela Mabinty DePrince

With pain in our hearts, we share the loss of star ballerina Michaela Mabinty DePrince, whose artistry touched countless hearts and whose spirit inspired many, leaving an indelible mark on the world of ballet, and beyond.

Her life was one defined by grace, purpose, and strength. Her unwavering commitment to her art, her humanitarian efforts, and her courage in overcoming unimaginable challenges will forever inspire us. She stood as a beacon of hope for many, showing that no matter the obstacles, beauty and greatness can rise from the darkest of places.

Though her time with us was far too brief, her brilliance and legacy will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were touched by her story, for generations to come. Love and prayers go to her chosen family, friends, and those who loved her.

Michaela Mabinty DePrince made history as the youngest principal dancer at the Dance Theatre of Harlem, before moving to the Netherlands to dance with the Dutch National Ballet. Her career progressed at Boston Ballet upon her return to the United States, where she continued captivating audiences with her performances.

Through her memoir, Taking Flight: From War Orphan to Star Ballerina, DePrince shared her inspiring journey of resilience and triumph, which has been translated into multiple languages and published in twelve countries. Her follow-up book, Ballet Dreams, further solidified her impact, extending her influence far beyond the stage.

DePrince was also a dedicated humanitarian, advocating for children affected by conflict and violence. She served as an Ambassador for War Child Holland and hosted her gala, Dare to Dream, dedicated to promoting the well-being and mental health of children living in war zones.

La Cámara Nautilus es un “barco”. Es donde uno puede navegar en los vientos de la música y el movimiento a las regiones del cuerpo, la mente y el espíritu aún no cartografiadas. Y les doy la bienvenida a todos. About Ethan Feldman, DC: {Español abajo} trained as a dancer from the age of 19 to 21 before leaving the studio to find a viable career that suited his need to be in both in the kinesthetic and healing worlds (chiropractic), he danced as he could over twenty plus years of family and clinic life before moving from Berkeley California to San Miguel de Allende, where he and his wife built a beautiful home and dance studio, The Nautilus Chamber. He currently leads Dancing Freedom free-form dance waves in which people get to move as they wish, through music and themes that explore all aspects of the human condition. The movement work is deep and life changing. He often invites other practitioners of other movement arts and disciplines to share their work in combined or solo workshops with him. He calls the Dancing Freedom tradition, which he trained and was certified in over ten years ago with Samantha Sweetwater “Danzlibre” to make more sense to the Spanish ear. Classes are taught in both Spanish and English.

Acerca de Ethan Feldman, DC: se formó como bailarín entre los 19 y los 21 años antes de abandonar el estudio para encontrar una carrera viable que se adaptara a su necesidad de estar en los mundos kinestésico y curativo (quiropráctica).
