Join our community! "Yoga has a long rich history in India (as long as 5000 years) where a vast majority of the practitioners are men. But there is a general misconception among men in the West about yoga.When yoga is mentioned a typical man’s response is “I’m to tight to do yoga” or they say, “I should do yoga, but I don’t”. There seems to be this awkward not knowing how to get involved, what’s yoga about, nervous about being a beginner, that keeps most men from ever trying yoga. Or they do go to a yoga class and indeed there are a lot of flexible young women and they feel out of place. The work that men do together, learning together, helps build honor and respect for each other and for them self. When you look around you see men doing yoga, their bodies are similar to your body, there challenges are similar to your challenges it feels more inclusive, you feel more included and 3accepted. It is very reaffirming to see a room full of men, young, old, in good physical shape, not in such good shape, but all taking an active role in improving their health and the quality of their lives." Here’s 10 reasons why more guys should do yoga.


1. You’ll work different muscle groups

Most guys go to the weight room and do the same exercises for years and years. Yoga offers a way to build strength in different parts of your muscles that you’ve probably never built before.

2. You will burn calories

If you take a YOGA class - you will burn a lot of calories that will help you lose weight. It’s also not as hard on your joints as running is.

3. Yoga reduces toxins in the muscles

A lot of guys don’t do to much stretching, so toxins tend to build up in their muscles. Yoga is all about stretching all the various muscle groups to release built up of toxins in the body.

4. Yoga is great for stress relief

A major component of yoga is working on meditation and breathing. It’s like a meditation in motion that will help you clear your mind from your stress-filled work day.

5. It’s great for pain relief

If you have sore or stiff muscles, yoga does great things to relax and relieve the tension areas of the body.

6. It will give you an edge in other sports

Professional athletes do yoga to gain any extra advantage they can get.

7. You’ll feel better

Yoga will help you sweat and release serotonin in the brain, which will improve your mood. It will also improve you confidence because you’ll be in better shape. Most importantly, a lot of yoga includes meditation, which will help you become more calm.

8. Yoga will help you sleep

Yoga will will help you sleep because it reduces stress, which is usually a major part of keeping us awake at night.

9. Yoga will help you increase your strength

Most of the postures require that you coordinate your entire body in order to get into the pose. This will help you strengthen muscles throughout your entire body.

10. Yoga will help improve your balance

A lot of postures in yoga work on improving your balance. This will help you in sports and all areas of life.

हेयं दुःखमनागतम् ॥१६॥
heyaṁ duḥkhamanāgatam || 16 ||
Pain that has not yet come can be abandoned.

In we are reminded that our current life is the result of karmas performed in previous lives and our present is the product of our
past. Our current pleasant and unpleasant circumstances are the result of our previous actions.

However in Sutra 2.16 says that we DO HAVE A CHOICE in regard to certain experiences and circumstances. Patanjali calls these experiences “heyam” avoidable. Actions that have not begun bearing fruit can— with effort and wisdom—be nullified.

A simple example is avoiding the ill effects of poisonous food with a quickly applied antidote; the longer we wait, the less likely it is we will avoid being harmed. (Giving a more complex example: some of us are predominately vatic—nervous, unstable, and easily stressed—and therefore prone to hypertension, high blood pressure, and heart failure. These conditions can be avoided by adopting a vata-calming lifestyle: eating nourishing food, balancing the functions of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, and calming the autonomic nervous system with regular breathing exercises. These practices can be further strengthened with meditation and contemplative techniques, thereby avoiding many of the negative effects of a vata imbalance)

According to yoga, most of our sorrowful conditions are due to pure carelessness.

When an afflicting condition gains so much momentum that it becomes overtly painful, we look for a cure. Pain warns us
that the essential vital energy is draining away and we must do something to stop it. If we hear this warning, we can overcome the pain and eliminate the subtle conditions that are causing it.

WOOO HOOO! We are coming back to MEXICO! This is our yoga4men REUNION and we will be celebrating our 6th Zipolite retreat. NEW VENUE! -30 meters from the beach.

We gather January 17-23, 2027 in an ideal retreat spot on Mexico’s southern Pacific Coast. Zipolite is a small village located in the state of Oaxaca. It is an extremely relaxed spot with a certain “hippie vibe” that is very different from any of the huge tourist centres in other parts of Mexico. If you enjoy being n**e, then you can enjoy a mile of a wonderful sandy beach, which is great for long walks. This Mexican adventure is one of the most balanced yoga retreats as we juggle days of adventure with beach-chillaxing.

The topic of our retreat is Love. The purpose of this retreat is to challenge your perceptions, rearrange your limiting beliefs and open your heart. Each day we will stretch ourselves with hatha yoga, practice fundamental mindfulness, breathing techniques and meditations to allow more intimate contact with the energies of life.

Did you know you can now pick and choose your favourite retreat module and dive deep into different areas of your life. Currently there are 6 different modules available to catch. Each retreat is a dive deep into the physical practice with an emphasis on alignment, breath work and meditation. The retreats rotate in different countries and hotel venues around the world adding its unique flavours. Some of the retreats run as 2/3 days events and some as 6/7 days in-depth immersions. You can also study the specific topics online. (more info soon to come)

Studying and practicing Yoga and meditation brings us closer to the Truth. Helps us to replace our fantasies about how things are with the Reality of things. This process challenges us to accept the world as it is, rather how we would like it to be.

When I started teaching 15 years ago I had the vision to bring people together. The classes started in my living room and in a matter of a short time it became clear that we all need each other for support and healing. The friendships we create hold us in our weakest moments and inspire us to live our lives fully. This longing in my teachings is to lead us to the Ultimate Potential of what we could become using the science of Yoga. A human who is strong, kind, open-hearted, conscious of his word and committed to his higher self. Today I would like to invite you all to join another heart opening transformative adventure... bedtime stories around the fire, nourishing yoga practice mastering the art of presence, time to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside with walking, swimming and star gazing. Hot Tub, Swimming Pool and Sauna available 24/7.

You’ll be sleeping in luxury, newly renovated bedrooms, single, double or twin. The rooms in the main house (Dutch Barn and Old Barn) have a modern, playful edge to their design.
