Sentimental Sundays – Honoring the Mothers
Today is Mother’s Day. And while we honor the women who’ve carried and birthed children, we also want to honor all forms of motherhood.
There are many ways to mother.
Some of us give life through our bodies. Some of us give life through our hands, our hearts, our work, or our presence.
Let’s honor the women who raise children, and the ones who raise businesses, communities, art, ideas, and gardens. Let’s honor the grandmothers who bring laughter to the house. The aunties who make you feel seen. The women who carry so much without being asked—and still show up with love.
Let’s honor Mother Nature, who creates without needing anything back. She keeps growing, blooming, making space for life, even when the world doesn’t notice. She reminds us that beauty doesn’t have to shout.
Let’s honor the moon and the ocean, who work together in rhythm. One pulls, the other shifts. That’s what real relationships look like. They create movement, not control.
At Amari, we’ve always tried to follow that kind of example.
When we started this project, we didn’t clear everything away and start from scratch. We listened to what was already here. We honored the original house that came before us—now aptly named ( Villa Ama - literally the mother house) that helped plant the first seeds of this space. We didn’t bulldoze. We built with care.
We kept the mama mango tree, and we call her that for a reason. She’s part of the family. She’s been here longer than us, and she’ll probably be here after us too.
That’s the kind of motherhood we’re celebrating today—the kind that makes room, that nourishes, that protects the original spirit of a place, a person, or a dream.
You don’t have to have children to be a mother.
You just have to care deeply.
To help something grow.
To offer love without needing to fully control the outcome.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in every form.
We sees you. And we’re grateful. Come for a visit!!
