There are a number of reasons why a patient may need a follow-up procedure.

✅Not losing the amount of weight expected – This could be due to the stretching of the sleeve over time, typically due to increased food intake. Some people gain a little “rebound weight” after surgery because they don’t stick to their diet and exercise program.

✅Regaining weight after losing it as expected. This may indicate that the stomach has stretched out and needs to be surgically reduced again.

Had a talk with my favorite dietitian this morning…she shared that CONSISTENCY BREEDS GROWTH. In the past, I was the STRUGGLING DIETER… start off strong Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and by the weekend it’s pizza, tacos, Starbucks’s. I’m not a fan of the word dieter or diet …but realistically it’s not a bad word …we’ve made it ugly. Because now my “diet” consist of balance… vegetables, healthy carbs, protein, and yes, some treats… that may include tacos and Starbucks. No more shame in reaching out and needing help …for me that help was the gastric sleeve.
