The answer depends on the type of procedure performed:

Gastric sleeve

Here only the amount of food entering the stomach is restricted, and absorption occurs normally. Protein and vitamin supplementation is usually necessary for about 6 months.

Gastric bypass

This surgery is malabsorptive, which means food passes directly into the intestine and is not fully absorbed. For this reason, protein and vitamin intake must be maintained continuously throughout life.

La respuesta depende del tipo de procedimiento que se realice:

Manga gástrica

Aquí sólo se restringe la cantidad de alimentos que ingresan al estómago, y se absorben adecuadamente. La suplementación de proteínas y vitaminas suele ser necesaria por aproximadamente 6 meses.

Bypass gástrico
