When an implant doesn’t properly bond with the bone after placement, it’s what we call a lack of osseointegration 🦴🔩, meaning the bone doesn’t “fuse” with the implant the way it should.
It’s not very common, but it can happen due to infections, poor initial stability, low bone quality, smoking, or other health conditions 🦠🚬🚨
If it does happen, don’t worry, it has a solution ✅: the implant is removed, the area is allowed to heal, and in most cases, it can be placed again under better conditions.
