El Prisma 💎🌈 es una herramienta muy útil para el Optometrista 👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️. Con él puede evaluar y medir desviaciones o bien, dar un tratamiento óptimo para mejorar la calidad de vida del paciente.

El prisma se compone de una base y un apice (cómo se muestra en la imagen). La base es el lado más grueso y el apice el más delgado. Cuando colocamos un prisma frente a un objeto, este último se desplazará contrario a la posición de la base (cómo se observa en la imagen).

El Optometrista es quien decide (conocimiento previo) cómo utilizar esta herramienta tan útil, dependiendo la circunstancia que se le presente en gabinete. ☺️👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️👁️🧠

Evolution of Transitions XTRActive:
In 1997, Transitions first introduced XTRActive lenses primarily to appeal to former Corning glass photochromic wearers who were accustomed to darker performance. Compared to regular Transitions, the XTRActive lens was a bit darker indoors and much darker outdoors for greater protection and comfort, and was favored by people that spent a lot of time outdoors.

In 2002, XTRActive was phased out when Transitions NextGen hit the market, because it was thought that NextGen would fill the need that XTRActive served.

However, in 2010, XTRActive was reintroduced by popular demand. Like before, Transitions XTRActive offers the extra darkness outdoors and slight tint indoors, while also now providing some activation in a car due to its visible light activation. Since that second introduction 10 years ago, XTRActive has been one of the fastest growing categories of lenses. It has a very loyal and dedicated user base.

This year, Transitions announced a remarkable upcoming product called Transitions XTRActive Polarized. The announcement states, “Transitions XTRActive Polarized lenses use a breakthrough, exclusive, multi-layer matrix which hosts new Transitions XTRActive broad-spectrum dyes for more darkness, and with new ultra-fast dichroic dyes that selectively absorb light waves in one direction for polarization.” I have worn this product extensively and have to admit, it is perhaps the most versatile and comfortable photochromic lens I have ever worn! It delivers all the best characteristics of XTRActive, and has the extra benefit of polarization in bright sun outdoors. Look for it in early 2021.

Transitions XTRActive has been many patients’ favorite lens for over 20 years now, and the XTRActive portfolio is just going to keep getting better and better.
