Pada tarikh sunnah adalah amat terbaik berbekam kerana peredaran darah yang lebih aktif ketika itu disebabkan tarikan daya graviti bumi lebih kuat.

Walaupun ada tarikh-tarikh sunnah, bekam boleh dilakukan pada bila-bila masa sekiranya terdapat keperluan kesihatan mendesak (terlalu sakit).

Walaupun rawatan bekam adalah amalan kuno namun ia adalah saranan dari Rasululah saw. Tidak ada daripada Rasulullah saw perkara yang sia-sia.
