Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council

Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council Vision: Malaysia as the leading global healthcare destination. Mission: Promoting Malaysia healthcare globally and facilitating the industry sustainability.

Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) (201101035226) was established by the Government of Malaysia as the primary agency to develop and promote the healthcare travel industry and to position Malaysia as the preferred healthcare destination. The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) was established under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) on 3rd July 2009 upon the approval of the Malaysian Cabinet. MHTC has been set up as the primary agency to develop and promote the healthcare travel industry and to position Malaysia as the healthcare destination of choice in the region. The Council reports to an Advisory Committee co-chaired by the Minister of Health and the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department heading the Economic Planning Unit. Members of the Committee are appointed from representatives of the government and the private sector involved in healthcare travel. The Committee is responsible for advising on policy issues and setting directions for the healthcare travel industry. MHTC galvanises public-private sector collaboration to formulate strategic plans for the development and promotion of healthcare travel services, and coordinate promotional activities for Malaysian healthcare providers and related stakeholders. While the healthcare travel industry is private sector-driven, the Government assumes an active role to facilitate the industry's growth. MHTC is also the focal point for all matters related to healthcare travel, to facilitate enquiries on policies and programmes on healthcare travel development and promotion, and serve as a one-stop centre for solutions on matters related to healthcare travel. MHTC is both the promotional arm of the Government and also a referral point to assist healthcare travellers and players of Malaysia's healthcare travel industry.

MHTC recently conducted productive visits to the Regency Medical Care Centre (RMCC) and Regency REN TCM Centre in Johor, as well as the PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre in Melaka.

At RMCC, we explored their innovative premium ambulatory care facility, which delivers seamless and modern outpatient services. At the Regency REN TCM Centre, we gained insights into their integrated approach, where Traditional Chinese Medicine and contemporary medical practices work hand in hand to enhance patient outcomes particularly in orthopaedics, stroke rehabilitation, and cancer care.

Our visit to the PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre highlighted their remarkable robotic-assisted neurorehabilitation offerings, including the state-of-the-art Cyberdyne HAL exoskeleton, a testament to Malaysiaโ€™s commitment to advancing rehabilitative care.

These visits reaffirm Malaysiaโ€™s dynamic and evolving healthcare landscape, and our continued commitment to offering diverse, high-quality medical tourism options. We look forward to future collaborations that further enrich patient experiences.
