Am IMPORTANT case to share!!!
A case of a gentleman who accidentally fell and complained of left hip pain for 3 days. He was still able to ambulate and even walk up/ down stairs. Due to increasing pain over his left hip. He was brought to Pantai Hospital Batu Pahat by his family member. A x-ray was done but it appeared perfectly fine without obvious fracture/ dislocation.
We have insisted on a MRI to be done, and an undisplaced neck of femur fracture was picked up and immediate fixation was done to stabilise the fracture. (A rather simple surgery compared to a joint replacement)

Often, these type of fracture presented to us with complete displacement requiring arthroplasty/ joint replacement. The fracture could be just a fine crack at the beginning and may progress to a complete displaced fracture.

LESSON to LEARN:
- PLEASE GET YOUR BONE SCANNED BEFORE RESORTING TO ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS ESPECIALLY AFTER A TRAUMA.

It's always easier to replace a joint than preserving it!!! 😎

非常高兴能够在巴株巴辖班台医院为一名患者保留关节，而不是更换关节。

分享一个重要的案例！！！
一位男士不小心摔倒，左髋疼痛了三天。由于左髋疼痛加剧，他仍然可以走动，甚至可以上下楼梯。他的家人把他送到了巴株巴辖班台医院。医生给他做了X光检查，结果显示他完全正常，没有明显的骨折/脱位。
我们坚持要求他做核磁共振检查，结果显示股骨颈骨折未移位，并立即进行了固定手术以稳定骨折.（与关节置换相比，这是一个相当简单的手术）

这类骨折通常表现为完全移位，需要进行关节置换术。骨折一开始可能只是轻微的裂纹，但可能会发展为完全移位的骨折。

经验教训：
- 在寻求替代疗法之前，尤其是在创伤后，请务必进行骨骼扫描。

更换关节总是比保留关节更容易！！！😎

Thank you for the trust given by a patient who had an operation done earlier at Pantai Hospital Batu Pahat a year ago on his left hip.
He has recovered well after the operation.
He came back again for another operation to be done on his left knee.
He is now able to walk without limb length discrepancy and most importantly, he does not need to endure the pain anymore. 😇

We have recently treated a gentleman came with a severe right elbow fracture-dislocation secondary to a fall. This injury pattern involves both bony and soft tissue damage which lead to elbow instability. The elbow is highly unstable and it is not able to be reduced by closed method.
We have proceeded with surgery to reduce the elbow, repair the ligaments and replacing the radial head.
Patient is now able to gain good elbow motion in just a week after operation. We wish him a speedy recovery!😀

我们最近收治了一位因跌倒导致右肘严重骨折脱位的男士。这种损伤类型涉及骨骼和软组织损伤，导致肘关节不稳定。肘关节极不稳定，无法通过闭合复位方法复位。
我们已进行手术，包括肘关节复位、韧带修复和半关节置换。

A gentleman has sustained fracture neck of left femur fracture a year ago which was not treated causing the fracture to be malunited and left lower limb to be shortened. The limb length inequality has further worsened the left knee degeneration.
We Pantai Hospital Batu Pahat have successfully performed a left total hip replacement for him, correcting the limb length discrepancy and gait.

一位先生一年前左股骨颈骨折，未治疗导致骨折不正常愈合，左下肢短2cm。下肢长度不平等进一步加剧了左膝退化。

A gentleman came with complain of chronic right hip pain with associated limb shortening of 3.5cm. He had history of trauma to his right hip years ago. Unfortunately, he sustained another injury to his left wrist few days before planned operation day.
After thorough discussion with the patient, we decided to fix both pathology at the same time.
He underwent plating of his left wrist and right total hip replacement. We have restored his right lower limb length of 3-3.5cm via a smooth surgery.
He is now able to fully weight bear with minimal assistance on day 2 of surgery and he is ready to go home.

一位先生患有慢性右髋疼痛，并伴有肢体缩短 3.5 厘米。几年前，他的右髋部曾受过外伤。不幸的是，在计划手术日前几天，他的左手腕再次受伤。
经过与患者充分讨论后，我们决定同时修复两种病理。
他接受了左手腕骨折固定手术和右全髋关节置换术。通过顺利的手术，他的右下肢长度恢复了3-3.5厘米。
现在，他在手术第 2 天就能够在最少的帮助下完全承受体重，并准备回家。

Proximal humerus fracture is the third most common osteoporotic fracture in the elderly patients. One of the major challenges in treating these fracture is poor bone quality leading to failure of fracture fixation. At Pantai Hospital Batu Pahat, we have recently treated a patient using her own fibula bone which was transplanted into her arm bone to provide additional structural support while fixing the fracture with a metal plate.

Tibial plateau/ or upper end of the leg bone fractures commonly occur following high energy trauma. There are generally 6 types of fracture pattern. Recently, here at Pantai Hospital Batu Pahat have treated a type 3 fracture which is not so commonly encountered. Diagnosis is not straightforward, same goes to the treatment. This lady sustained the injury after an unintentional stomping of her leg into a pothole. The mechanism of fracture is pure impaction by the femur bone onto the tibia bone, resulting in a collapse of the tibia articular surface.
The surgery required creation of a bony "window", elevation of the collapse bone via the window with the aid of bone grafts and wires. Finally, stabilisation of the fracture using plate and screws.

腿骨上端骨折通常发生在高能量创伤后。骨折类型一般有6种。最近，我们治疗了并不常见的第3种骨折。诊断并不简单，治疗也同样如此。这名女士的腿无意中踩进了坑洼。骨折的机制是大腿骨纯粹撞击小腿骨，导致小腿骨关节面塌陷。
手术需要创建一个骨“窗口”，借助骨髓和钢线通过窗口抬高塌陷的骨头。最后，使用钢板和螺钉稳定骨折。

Wrist fractures are common injuries following a fall on outstretched hand. Immediate x-ray of the wrist is recommended to rule out the presence fracture. An important message is that this type of fracture does not only affect the older age group. Get a x-ray or CT scan done prior to seeking any other alternative treatment/ remedy is recommended.
