BEYFORTUS (RSV monoclonal antibody)

We’d just recently given this new RSV mAb injection to one of our premature babies, on the day she was discharged from the hospital, after a prolonged stay.

What is Beyfortus?
* Beyfortus is not technically a vaccine, but a monoclonal ANTIBODY injection that gives IMMEDIATE protection lasting the RSV season.

What Beyfortus is for?
* It is used to prevent serious lung disease caused by RSV (Respiratory Synsytial Virus).

Target groups?
* For newborns and infants under one year of age during their first RSV season, including healthy term babies
* For high risk children up to 24 months who remain at risk during their second RSV season (e.g. chronic lung disease of prematurity, congenital heart disease, severe immunocompromised etc)
