A recent tragic death has sent the community into a panic, rushing to get the influenza vaccine. This event is a stark reminder that travel health is often neglected—until disaster strikes.
Many people underestimate the health risks associated with traveling. While most trips are enjoyable, a single unexpected health issue can turn a pleasant journey into a nightmare.

Travel health is not just about getting vaccinated or packing enough medicine for diarrhea and motion sickness. It goes far beyond that. Proper travel health includes pre-travel preparation, gathering adequate information about your destination, and anticipating potential risks.

✅ Prepare printed important documents – passport, list of medication, medical condition, and allergy, insurance policies, emergency contact
✅ Plan for emergencies – Identify local hospitals, emergency contacts, and nearest embassies.
✅ Keep loved ones informed – Update family or friends about your travel plans in case of unexpected situations.
✅ Secure comprehensive travel insurance – Make sure it covers not only accidents but also medical treatment and medical evacuation. Many policies exclude pre-existing conditions like asthma or infections, which could leave you unprotected.
✅ Prepare for worst-case scenarios – Having a backup plan is essential. In extreme cases, this even includes having a will in place.
