A delegation from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) headed by its Engineering Faculty Associate Professor Dr Raihan Othman recently made a visit to PBUMED's manufacturing facility in Penang.

The visit was aimed at exploring opportunities and initiatives in research & development (R&D) as well as student development programmes.

As a local manufacturer of medical and healthcare furniture and equipment, R&D plays a major and instrumental part in advancing our business. Fundamentally important, is also in not only acquiring but doing our part to help develop a sustainable pool of talented and innovative designers, engineers and fabricators in support of growing the industry.

PBUMED is honored to have recently hosted a visit by senior management from the Northern Corridor Economic Region NCER). The visit was part of a nationwide Smart Tech Up initiative to encourage and drive the establishment of smart factories of the future.

Smart Tech Up is an initiative under Mission 2 of the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 spearheaded by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and industry (MITI) with SIRIM and Strategic Partners, and is designed to accelerate the conversion of 3000 companies into Smart Factories by 2030

Present during the visit were among others En Amir Sharifuddin Bin Nayodin @ Mahayudin; En Fahmi Azali Bin Amir; En Anuar Bin Ali; and En Hisyamuddin Bin Kamaruddin representing NCER, and En Haslan Fadli bin Ahmad Marzuki, Senior Consultant and representative of Smart Tech Up. They were hosted by PBUMED Chief Executive Offer En Ahmad Kamal Chik.

Also present during the visit were several representatives from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) who included Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Fatanah Mohamad Suhaimi; Dr. Syatirah Mat Zin; Nur Fatehah Md Shakur; Farhah Mohamad; Mohammad Firdaus Mohamad Nazri; and Zulfadhli bin Osman.

Also joining were representatives from Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) Malaysia Section and En. Azmy A Hamid; Pn. Lizatul Akma Zulkifli; En. Hadry Hyzan; and En. Syed Imran Syed Zulkifli from OSA Technology Sdn Bhd (OSA) - one of the pioneers of local medical-grade orthopaedic implants manufacturer in Malaysia.
