Many friends asked why I’m performing these rituals 🙏
I’m doing it because these two days are very auspicious in the Buddhist calendar:
🌕 Hungry Ghost Festival (7/14) – a time when the unseen world opens. We offer food and smoke to wandering spirits, so they find relief instead of hunger.
✨ Buddha’s Joyful Day (7/15) – a day when Buddhas and Sangha rejoice because people dedicate light, offer blessings, and remember ancestors. It’s said that merit multiplies many times on this day.
Through offerings like candles, smoke, lotus, and Dharma boats:
We ease suffering of hungry spirits
Bless and uplift ancestors
Clear karmic debts and obstacles
Bring light and protection for ourselves too
Merit isn’t only limited to these days — but these occasions are powerful reminders to practice compassion and generosity. 🌸
