Period or Menstruation or 'Aunty Visit' as locals will call it, is one of the least mentioned topics because of cultural taboo. If such a topic is already spoken under one's breath on a regular day, the topic is 'almost' never mentioned during a pandemic.
'Almost' happens when there are a few individuals out there who identify and acknowledge the lack of attention to the matter and reach out to help, so that affected girls & women don't have to choose between food and sanitary hygiene.
We are glad for the opportunity to extend our sanitary pad assistance through Penang State Councillor Ms Connie Tan ้ๆ
ง่'s Period Poverty Program. More girls and women in Penang can now get the assistance they truly need.
We hope that we are able to continuously build awareness and publicity to reduce or even end period poverty in Penang.

Tq Mr Shane Chee from Green River Phamacy for supporting my Period Poverty program. Mr Chee approached me on social media upon reading an article on Bulletin Mutiara about PPP. Iโm so glad to find out that he as well feels strongly to the cause, particularly on breaking the taboo and addressing period poverty.
Hereโs a picture of him delivering some 3 boxes of pads to me and we had a discussion on how to collaborate further in the near future.
Ever since I started the campaign I have different people coming to me expressing their support to the program and delivering essential items to me. Iโm beyond grateful. Rest assured, I will make sure these items are put to good use, for the girls and women in need.
