Moringa can be used in a variety of dishes, from soups and stews to stir-fries and smoothies. The preparation depends on whether you're using fresh leaves, dried powder, or the pods.
Preparing Fresh Moringa Leaves
Harvesting: If you have a moringa tree, simply pluck the leaves from the stems.
Cleaning: Wash the leaves thoroughly to remove any dirt or dust.
Removing Stems: The thick, woody stems are not edible, so discard them. The smaller stems are fine to use.
Cooking: Fresh moringa leaves have an earthy, slightly peppery flavor similar to spinach or arugula. They can be tough to digest if not cooked well, so it's best to steam or boil them. Like spinach, a large pile of fresh leaves will cook down significantly.
