Kak Maryam, our amazing ward clerk, decided to bring the joy of Hari Raya to one of our Hospice patients, En Noordin. She spent hours in the kitchen preparing a special Raya feastโnasi impit, rendang, ketupat and a few other traditional dishes just so he could feel the festive spirit, even while in the hospital.
But Kak Maryamโs care didnโt stop at cooking. She personally fed En Noordin, sitting beside him with a gentle smile, sharing stories, laughter, and moments of connection that go beyond words. Our nurses joined in, turning the ward into a little celebration filled with warmth and love.
Asked what inspired Kak Maryam to do this kind and thoughtful gesture, she shared that she felt deeply for En Noordin, knowing he could not return home to celebrate Hari Raya with his family and loved ones. To her, Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a time of togetherness, a time to return home, seek forgiveness, and embrace renewal while sharing in its blessings. Moved by this, she felt a strong desire to bring that same warmth and meaning to En Noordin.
She had been cooking late into the night until 2am on Monday, yet still arrived at work on time, going the extra mile, quietly and wholeheartedly, to make this moment possible.
She even made extra food for the entire ward staff, so everyone could share in this special Raya moment together. In her thoughtful actions, we see the heart of what makes Mount Miriam a place of care, not just healing, but compassion, kindness, and human connection.
