I shared on “𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗮𝘁: 𝗔 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲” — a topic close to my heart, as sore throats are one of the most common conditions we see in clinics, yet often misunderstood.

有时候，身为医生最难的，
不是开刀，不是治疗，
而是——陪伴。

前些日子，我收到一封病人女儿的感谢讯息。字里行间满是泪水与思念，因为她的父亲已在极乐世医院走完人生最后一程。

这位病人最初带着希望来找我，想寻求更多治疗。可是，他的唾液腺癌在历经手术、化疗与电疗后，仍无情地复发。当他走进我的诊室时，已是晚期阶段。那一刻，我心里明白，也许我无法再与他并肩对抗病魔，但我能做的，是陪他走过生命最后的旅程。

在这段时间里，我和他之间建立了深厚的情感。我学会了倾听他的恐惧，也见证了他如何勇敢面对现实。他的家人也在学习如何接受、如何放下。死亡并非失败，而是生命必经的一部分。能在有生之年知道自己将要离去，能为自己预先规划离开的方式，这是一种难得的福份。

姑息治疗，并不是放弃，而是另一种爱。
它让病人少一分痛苦，多一分尊严；
让家人少一分恐惧，多一分理解。
它让生命的最后一段路，不再是孤独，而是温柔的陪伴。

在这条路上，我并不是一个人。我要特别感谢我的住院内科医生Dr Neoh KK，以及前来支援的姑息治疗专科医生 Dr Lim。他们用专业与爱心，为病人和家属提供了最温柔、最全面的照顾。也感谢医院能提供这样的人文服务，让“善终”不再只是理想，而是真实可行的关怀。

生死之间，医学的意义并不是永远战胜病魔，而是守护尊严，让离去的人少一分痛苦，让留下的人多一分释怀。

💙 姑息治疗不是放弃，而是以最温柔的方式完成生命。

👂𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗺𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴?
Your Eustachian tube connects the middle ear to the back of the nose, helping balance ear pressure.

Common causes:
🤧 Allergy
🤒 Flu
🤢 Sinus infection

First step – Autoinflation:
🤏 Pinch nose & blow gently
• Swallow/yawn
• Use prescribed nasal spray

⚠️ Seek medical attention if:
Symptoms persist >3 months despite treatment — rarely, could be nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in our region.
