🌿 Myth vs Fact #3 — Nasal Spray Addiction

🚫💧 “Doctor, I’m afraid of getting addicted to nasal spray!”

This is one of the most common worries patients have — but it’s a myth!
👃 Most medical nasal sprays (like steroid sprays) are not addictive, and actually help control allergies safely when used correctly.
Only some decongestant sprays (the “instant relief” ones) can cause rebound blockage if overused.

✨ The key is to use the right spray, the right way, under proper guidance.

这是很多病人常见的误解，其实这是个迷思！
👃 大多数治疗性鼻喷剂（例如类固醇喷剂）不会上瘾，正确使用能安全有效地控制鼻炎。
只有部分快速通鼻喷剂，若长期滥用，才会造成「反弹性鼻塞」。

🌙✨ This morning, I was greeted with a box of mooncakes and a handwritten card from the family of a dear patient I cared for in his final days.

He has since passed on, but his family’s kindness and words reminded me that medicine is not just about treatments and procedures—it is about walking with patients and their loved ones through the most difficult chapters of life.

To the family: Thank you for trusting me to journey alongside you. Your father’s memory will live on, and your gratitude will stay with me always. 💐

❌ Myth: “If my child has nosebleeds, it means something is very wrong.”
✅ Fact: Most nosebleeds in children are harmless, often caused by dry air, nose picking, or minor irritation. Serious causes are rare, but if nosebleeds are frequent or heavy, see an ENT doctor for assessment.

✨ Honoured to be invited by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and Inova Pharma as a speaker at the 𝟲𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗠𝗔 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 in Penang.
