Rotavirus Gastroenteritis🦠
When little Sofia started having vomiting and diarrhoea many times, her parents were very worried 😓. They admitted her to our hospital 🚨
She improved with hydration and managing her food. Tests showed she had Rotavirus infection. We advised parents on how to manage her at home.
✅ Rotavirus infection is a preventable infection through vaccination.
✅ Prevention is better than cure.

Crying Baby 😫
Baby Mia, 2 weeks old, cried for hours every evening. Her parents were exhausted and worried something was wrong 😥.
After examination, we found colic was the cause 💨. We advised on adjustment to feeding and soothing routine, this brought calm back to the home.

RSV Bronchiolitis 👶🏻
Ray, a six week old baby presented with coughing, wheezing and fast breathing. Nasal swab was positive for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) 🧬.
We diagnosed RSV Bronchiolitis. A viral chest infection common in babies 🩻. He was admitted and treat with nebulization, suction and hydration. He recovered progressively.
✅ Quick recognition prevented complication.

Speech Delay 🗣️
Aira, 2 ½ years old only said "mama" and "no". Her parents were worried 😓. After assessment we found her understanding was good, only expressive language delay.
We provided parental guidance and referred her for Speech Therapy. She started progressing 🌱.
Early Intervention helped her progress 📈.

Hypospadias 💦
When baby Adam's mum noticed his urine stream wasn't coming straight, she became anxious 😟
During his check-up, it turned out to be hypospadias -- a condition where opening of the p***s is slightly lower than usual. It is common and correctable with surgery 💉.

Dr.Shan Narayanan, commenced his practice in Fatimah Hospital in January 2006. He obtained his MBBS from University Malaya in 1987. He did his Paediatric Training in United Kingdom. He obtained MRCP and MRCPCH from Royal College of Physician and Royal College of paediatrics and Child Health respectively in 1996. He worked for 10 years in various specialties in United Kingdom prior to returning to home.
Dr.Shan is a General Paediatrician. He works with babies and children and adolescent. He manages them as outpatient and inpatient. He emphasizes a lot on child health and wellness. He does immunization of children against Infectious Diseases and counsels 12 to 18 year old to motivate them to bring out the best in them.
He has a special interest in Child Development and Disability. He has a specific interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder. He has training to administer Griffith’s Developmental Assessment., Childhood Autism Rating Scale and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule.
In his consultations both for medical illnesses and developmental issues, Dr.Shan provides a plan of management, thus families are clear on what to do for their children to be better.
Dr.Shan is also a certified Life and Executive Coach and an eloquent speaker.
