According to the Department of Social Welfare Action Plan in the National Policy for the Elderly ( 1999 ) , the elderly are defined as those who have increased the age of 60 years and above . The increase in the Elderly in the population has resulted in the demand for special Facilities , Nursing Homes and Centres for the Elderly so that they can also live a life like a normal person . However , such Facilities , Nursing Homes and Centres for the Elderly are not sufficient to accommodate the growing number of inmates on a daily basis . In 1999 , the total population of the country is 21.8 million people and 6.5 % are Old Aged . It is expected that by the year 2020 , the total number of the Elderly will account for 11.3 % of the total population of the country. Providing sufficient quality Facilities , Nursing Homes and Care and Services Centres for the elderly is an Important new challenge as it is expected by the year 2035 , 15 % of the total population in Malaysia is expected to be above the age of 60 years old . Pusat Jagaan Harapan Baru Warga Emas ( Old Folks Home / Nursing Home ) was established on the 1st March 2014 for the placement , care and full protection for the Elderly Men and Women that are disabled , old aged with sickness , serious illness , mentally ill , and those who are unable take care of themselves . SERVICES

Among the amenities and services available to Residents / Senior Citizens are :
1. 24 hour care by the staff .
2. Guidance and Counseling .
3. Guidance in Religion and worship facilities . ( Upon Request )
4. Recreation ( Board Games , Reading , Singing and others that are appropriate )
5. Day Care ( Please refer to the Care Center Administrator for list of Charges )
6. Sitting area with television and radio .
7. Bathroom Safety Rail and Water Heater Unit .
8. Bedroom area with Beds ( pillows and blankets ) and storage cabinet .
9. Private Bedroom ( pillows and blankets ) with air-conditioning unit , television and radio and storage cabinet .
10. Basic personal hygiene needs such as Toothbrush , Toothpaste , Soap and Hair Shampoo , Shaver , Nail Clipper , Bath and Hand Towels .
11. Hair Cut service every month .
12. Medical Treatment and Health Care by Trained Physician , Doctor and Nurses ( Please refer to the Care Center Administrator for list of Charges and Payments )
13. Physiotherapy and Massage ( Please refer to the Care Center Administrator for list of Charges )
