KOC Optometrist Optometry Clinic There are plenty of optical outlet thru out malaysia. In Ipoh itself, more than hundreds of them but unfortunately only few are qualified.

The what so call qualified outlet mean they have optometric eye examination and refraction done by an optometrist, a vision specialist possed a university degree in optometry ( defer from optician who only have experience in optical bussines but no medical backgroung). Opticians are more interested in doing bussiness where as an optometrist are primary eyecare and they worked hand in hand with ophthalmologist, an eye specialist doctor, especially in govement hospitals. In optometry clinic, we do care about our patient eye health by giving them proper eye examination and refraction, consultation, eye exercise if needfull, contact lens prescription, prism priscription for double vision patient and last but not lease, low vision management and rehabilitation. Beside that an optometrist also advice on the proper way of choosing and wearing spectacles according to their needs, shape of their face and etc. An optometrist are trained to detect and dianose eye diseases and related them to systemic deseases if any, and refer the cases to an ophthalmologist. There are few common type of vision defects ;
1) Myopia or short sightness- can be corrected by convex lenses
2) hyperopia or long sightness- can be corrected by concave lenses
3) presbyopia or difficulty at reading distance_ co be corrected by concave l
lenses, normally happen to age 40 years old and above
4) amblyopia or lazy eyes- can be corrected by either concave or convex
lenses, should be diagnose and treated as early as 5 years or earlier,
early detection good prognosis. Parent are strongly advice to bring their
chidren for optometric eye examination at preschool age.
5) Astigmatism or glaring
6) Diplopia or double vision
Common eyes diseases ;
1) glaucoma
2) dry eyes
3) cataract
4) ptyrigium
5) red eye
6) conjuctivitis
7) retinal detactment
8) etc

Assalamualaikum,

Hari ini, jumaat, 27 okt.23, dapat satu kes lazy eye atau amblyopia mata kanan,, budak melayu berumur 7tahun.

Finding;
Mata kanan -9.00 VA 6/60
Mata kiri pl VA 6/6, Normal
Lain- lain NAD (No Abnormality Detected)

Rawatan;
Perlu 'exercise' mata kanan sehingga penglihatan kembali normal,
memakan masa lama, mungkin setahun. Power yg ada kekal atau bertambah.
Setelah kembali normal, perlu memakai kanta sentuh (kontek lens).
Kesemua proses rawatan ini perlu disempurnakan sebelum umur mencecah 12 tahun.

Kesimpulan;
Amblyopia dapat dirawat, in sha allah, jika dapat dikesan awal. Jadinya ibubapa perlu tersangat peka dalam kontek kesihatan penglihatan anak- anak.

A patient, 55 y.o. came to my practice today, 1st September 2023, complained of double vision.
Prescribed prism 6 base out both eye alongside with his powered spectacle. Patient came out happy with no more headache and double vision..
