Did you know?

No two retinas are exactly alike — not even in identical twins.

Just like fingerprints, every retina has its own unique pattern. This is why retinal scans are so powerful in eye health assessments and why personalised eye care matters. Your eyes tell a story that belongs to only you.

GUESS THE WORD

Your eyes make it naturally.
It keeps your eyes moist.
You need it every single day.

Can you guess the word?

TEARS
Yes — that’s correct!

Tears help keep your eyes comfortable, protect them from infection, and wash away dust and irritants.

Why Blinking Matters — Especially in the Digital Age

Did you know that blinking is essential for healthy eyes? According to Dr Tan Ee Ling, Ophthalmologist at Hospital Fatimah, blinking helps spread tears evenly across the eyes, keeping them moist, clear, and protected.

When we spend long hours on screens, our blink rate drops significantly. This can lead to dry eyes, eye strain, tired eyes, headaches, and blurred vision — even in children.

Simple reminder: blink often, take regular screen breaks, and practise the 20-20-20 rule to keep your eyes comfortable and healthy.
(Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.)

Small habits like blinking more can make a big difference in long-term eye health

Ramai orang tahu kencing manis boleh rosakkan kaki. Tapi ramai tak sedar, kencing manis juga boleh rosakkan mata sampai buta.

Bukan nak takut takutkan.

Salur darah jadi rosak.

Mula mula salur darah tu bocor.

Bila bocor, retina jadi basah dan bengkak. Bila bahagian tengah retina (makula) bengkak, penglihatan mula kabur. Tulisan jadi tak jelas. Garis lurus nampak beralun. Muka orang macam tak tajam.

Lepas tu, bila retina tak cukup oksigen, badan cuba buat salur darah baru. Masalahnya, salur darah baru ni rapuh. Mudah pecah.

Bila retina tertanggal, risiko hilang penglihatan jadi sangat tinggi.

Sebab itu diabetes boleh buat buta.
Bukan sebab mata “sakit”, tapi sebab retina rosak perlahan lahan.

Eyebags: Why they happen & what you can do

Do people keep asking if you’re tired—even when you’re not?
Eyebags are a common concern and they don’t always mean lack of sleep.

According to Dr Ee Ling Tan, eyebags can be caused by:
- Ageing and loss of skin elasticity
- Genetics
- Fluid retention
- Allergies or sinus issues
- Lifestyle factors like stress and screen time

The good news?
Eyebags can be treated and improved with the right medical assessment and personalised care.

Consult Dr Ee Ling Tan at Hospital Fatimah to understand the cause of your eyebags and explore suitable treatment options.

Because you deserve to look as refreshed as you feel ✨

Eye health is more than clear vision

You can see well and still have unhealthy eyes.
Many eye conditions develop silently, with no early symptoms.
Eye health means:
• Preventing long-term damage
• Reducing screen strain
• Catching problems early
• Protecting your vision for life

Blur, strain, headaches, dryness, or light sensitivity?
Don’t ignore them. And even if everything feels “fine”—regular eye checks still matter.
Clear vision is temporary.
Healthy eyes are lifelong.

Lazy eye isn’t just a childhood condition — and it doesn’t always correct itself with time.

Today, new digital vision therapies allow both eyes to be trained together, helping the brain relearn how to see as a team. This means children AND adults now have more options beyond traditional patching or glasses alone.

If you or your child has:
• One eye that turns in or out
• Poor depth perception
• Frequent eye strain or headaches
• A diagnosis of lazy eye (amblyopia)

Early assessment makes a real difference — but it’s never “too late” to seek help.

Book an eye assessment and find out if modern vision therapy may help you or your child see better, together.
