This month, we channeled our monthly charity funds to support one of the oldest temples in Bercham, contributing to its cultural and traditional activities.

Our founder, CT Yong, shared that his grandfather once served as a volunteer at this very temple. Today, with gratitude and respect, the third generation returns — continuing the bond and giving back to the place that once nurtured the community.

Shadow Puppet Theatre (布影戲) is one of the temple’s oldest traditional performances. Entirely handmade and performed by human skill, it carries the warmth of a time before televisions and mobile phones existed. In the past, children would gather around the temple, eagerly watching the performance. These shows were originally presented to the deities — a form of thanksgiving, celebration, and communal gathering.

On behalf of all , we were honoured to sponsor one full day of the shadow puppet performance, as an offering of gratitude to the gods and as a gift for the public to enjoy.

Preserving tradition is not about nostalgia — it is about remembering where we come from and ensuring these living cultures continue to be seen, heard, and felt. 🙏✨

这个月，我们将每月的慈善基金，捐助予霹雳怡保万里望最古老的庙宇之一，以支持其传统文化与庙宇相关活动。

我们的创办人 CT Yong 分享，他的祖父当年曾是这间庙宇的义工之一。如今，怀着感恩与敬意，第三代再次回到这里，延续这份跨越世代的因缘与守护。

布影戏 是庙宇中最古老、最传统的文化表演之一。所有道具皆为手工制作，全由真人操作演出。在没有电视、没有手机的年代，孩子们总会围在庙前观看布影戏。过去，这些表演主要是献给神明，作为庆典、酬谢与凝聚社区的方式。

谨代表所有 （达成所愿孩子），我们很荣幸赞助其中一天的布影戏演出，以答谢神明，也让大众一同感受这份珍贵的传统文化。

传承文化，不只是怀旧，而是记得我们从哪里来，
也让这些活着的传统，继续被看见、被听见、被珍惜。🙏✨

If you were unable to do it on that day, you may still perform a flower bath within the next few days, allowing the cleansing energy to continue working gently and naturally.

the remaining rituals will be completed progressively within this week, ensuring every intention is fully honoured.

① Wash and soak mixed grains for 3–6 hours
② Bring to a boil, then simmer gently
③ Add red dates, lotus seeds, peanuts & goji berries
④ Slow cook 1–2 hours until rich and fragrant
⑤ Sweeten lightly with rock sugar or honey
⑥ Serve warm and enjoy

🍚 What is Laba Porridge (臘八粥)?

Laba porridge is a special porridge eaten on Laba Festival (8th day of the 12th lunar month). It is made by cooking many types of grains, beans, and dried fruits together.

It symbolises:
• Abundance
• Good health
• Wealth
• Harmony
• A good new year

People believe that eating Laba porridge means “bringing many blessings into one bowl for the coming year.”

🍚 什麼是臘八粥（Laba Porridge）？

臘八粥是臘八節（農曆十二月初八）必吃的一種傳統粥品。
它是把多種穀物、豆類和乾果一起熬煮而成的一鍋養生吉祥粥。

它象徵著：

臘八節 · Laba Festival

Laba — not “Lapar” in Malay (hungry) 🤣
But a very powerful date in Chinese spiritual culture.

Laba Festival falls on the 8th day of the 12th lunar month,
and it marks a special checkpoint between the old year and the new one —when the energy of closing, cleansing, and resetting officially begins.

This day carries two powerful roots:

🔸 Ancient Chinese tradition
A time to thank Heaven, Earth, and our ancestors for the year’s protection, harvest, and blessings.

🔸 Buddhist tradition
The sacred day when Buddha attained enlightenment, symbolising awakening, clarity, and transformation.

So Laba is not just another festival —
it is a day of:

✨ Purification
✨ Blessings
