What is Infinity Walk?

It is a whole body/brain activity that profoundly impacts sensory, motor, perceptual, emotional, cognitive and social performance when done for 10 minutes daily. You walk in the form of a lazy 8/figure 8; this provides a model for a continuous flow of clockwise and counter clockwise movement of the body through space, requiring simultaneous rotation/counter rotation of the shoulder-girdle and pelvis.

Why is it important/why should a person do it?

Infinity Walk integrates the Neurological System (the left and right brain).

It develops communication between the Primitive brain (brainstem), Emotional brain (limbic system) and the Thinking brain (cortex).

By doing Infinity Walk the Beta, Alpha and Theta brain waves increase. Beta waves are responsible for organized thoughts, verbal & written language, cognitive processes and productivity. Alpha Waves are responsible for creativity/play, inner vision, all sensory memories and objective problem solving. Theta waves are responsible for deep emotional feelings/passion, flashes of vision and insight.

The benefits of Infinity Walk.

1) Improves bilateral integration between the two sides of the body
2) Improves inner rhythm
3) Improves inner balance
4) Regulates the nervous system
5) Improves reading and spelling (sparks renewed attention of both hemispheres and primes the brain for higher cognitive skills)
6) Improves visual perceptual skills
7) Improves concentration
8)Energizes a person
9) Lowers stress levels
10) Regulates the nervous system
11) Corrects imbalances in bilateral muscles and movement thus improving mobility
12) Improves self-confidence
13) Exercises the body
14) Establishes proper movement
15) Reduces muscular pain
16) Leads to proper breathing, drainage of toxins and better health

7 Factors that Promote Intrinsic Motivation :

1.Challenge

We are best motivated when we are working toward personally meaningful goals whose attainment requires activity at a continuously optimal (intermediate) level of difficulty.

2.Curiosity

Something in the physical environment attracts our attention or there is a discrepancy between present knowledge or skills and what these could be if we engaged in some activity.

3.Control

We have a basic tendency to want to control what happens to us.

4.Fantasy

We use mental images of things and situations that are not actually present to stimulate our behavior.

5.Competition

We feel satisfaction by comparing our performance favorably to that of others.

6.Cooperation

We feel satisfaction by helping others achieve our goals.

7.Recognition

We feel satisfaction when others recognize and appreciate our accomplishments.

GERIATRIC REHABILITATION.

The needs of elderly persons are unique and often complex with multiple problems – physical, cognitive and functional. We help families understand the best approach to caring for their loved ones and we empower older patients to live as independently as possible.

If you are a senior or have an older loved one who needs rehabilitation, a facility that specializes in senior care can have many benefits. Therapists and the medical team are specially trained in interventions and techniques that are appropriate for older adults. They are able to adjust the pace of therapy so that it is proper for an older patient, potentially reducing any injuries while helping to decrease recovery time.

A successful rehabilitation stay can help prevent future injury and hospitalization, while helping seniors maintain independence and avoid placement in long-term care.

Elderly Rehabilitation.

The benefits of elderly individuals living in their own homes are undeniable. But when an aging loved one begins struggling with household tasks and activities of daily living (ADLs), it can become a major source of worry for their family.

Hiring a physiotherapist is an excellent option that enables older adults to age in place safely. Professional in-home caregivers provide seniors with hands-on care as well as help with the emotional and routine aspects of daily life.

Using kinesio tape for tennis elbow is an excellent treatment option for lateral epicondylitis, or tennis elbow, which involves using kinesiology tape to reduce symptoms. Taping your elbow allows you to perform activities that would normally be painful by minimizing pain and changing how you move your arm.

&

The benefit of the patella tape is the raise of the activation or timing of the vastus medialis relative to the vastus lateralis or conversely, the decrease activation of the vastus lateralis relative to the vastus medialis.
