A Men's only Sunday morning well-spent 👍👏👏💖
The Talk on 'MEN'S HEART MATTERS' today, 23/11/25, saw a good mix of men from all races turning up for the Programme, organised by our Family Wellness Club in conjunction with International Men's Day 2025.
One of the participants who registered for this Programme was Reuben, a well-known emcee from Matchbox and Such. He was roped in to be the emcee today as well 😅
He started off by saying that it is so important for all men to personally take charge of their heart health 👌
In his welcome address, Mr.K.Subramaniam, a senior member of Family Wellness Club, welcomed all participants, and said that the Programme was organised for men only for International Men's Day, as men were more prone to heart attacks then women, and of late more young men in their 30's and 40's were suddenly dying of heart attacks.
In his Talk, speaker, consultant cardiologist Dr.Wan Faizal Wan Rahimi Shah, spoke about the reasons why men are more prone to heart attacks than women, and then went on to explain what happens when someone has a cardiac arrest. He described, with the aid of a slide presentation, some treatments for heart problems, starting from medication, and then angiograms, angioplasty and bypass surgery. He then elaborated on the advanced Complex PCI.
A lively 'Q & A' session followed with many men asking about their own experiences undergoing heart problems.
One participant got everyone laughing when wanted to know if there is just one supplement for all heart ailments!
Dr.Wan Faizal advised the men that if they were having any pain or discomfort, it's best to first see a doctor and find out what's the cause of it, so appropriate treatment can be started early.
At the end of the Talk, many participants went up to speak to Dr.Wan Faizal, as he came across as a nice and friendly doctor 👍
They later took a group photo together.
The Programme today had started early with participants arriving from 9am to sign-in and do their free heart rhythm testing by Ms.Chew from Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL). While waiting for their turn, the men took the oppurtunity to chit-chat, browse our jumble-sale items, and bought some items, saying they were a good bargain 😃
When Dr.Wan Faizal arrived, the free heart rhythm testing was still going on, so some participants were introduced to Dr.Wan Faizal and he was happy to mingle and chat with them 👍
At the close of today's event, many participants came up and thanked us for having organised this productive men's only gathering for this year's International Men's Day 👍🙏🙏💖
