We are pleased to share that our optometrist internship student, Flora Tee, from SEGi University, has successfully completed her final internship with us from 8 December 2025 to 2 January 2026.

With the guidance of our Medical Director, Dr. Tan Siow Wei and our optometry team, especially Ms. Hanis as her preceptor, Flora gained valuable clinical exposure and professional learning experience.

Our centre is also committed to supporting optometrist students in their clinical practice.

We thank Flora for her dedication and contributions during her internship, and we wish her every success in her final semester and in her future ahead.

我们非常高兴分享，来自吉隆坡 SEGi 大学的实习验光学生 Flora，已于 12 月 8 日至 1 月 2 日 顺利完成在本中心的最后一段实习。

在我们的医疗总监 Dr. Tan 以及验光团队的指导下，特别感谢她的指导老师 Hanis，Flora 获得了宝贵的临床经验与专业成长。

👁 Conjunctivitis: Myths vs Truths
Many patients worry when their eyes turn red — but not all red eyes mean “pink eye,” and not every case is contagious.

To help everyone understand better, ISEC Sibu - International Specialist Eye Centre Sibu Dr Chua CN shares some common myths and the real truths behind conjunctivitis:

❌ Myth: You can get pink eye just by looking at someone.
✅ Truth: It spreads through touch — infected hands, towels, or shared surfaces.

❌ Myth: All red eyes are contagious.
✅ Truth: Only viral and bacterial conjunctivitis are infectious.
Allergic and chemical types are not contagious.

❌ Myth: It’s okay to continue using contact lenses and makeup.
✅ Truth: Stop both until your eyes fully recover.

❌ Myth: All conjunctivitis needs antibiotics.
✅ Truth: Treatment depends on the cause:
• Bacterial → antibiotics
• Viral → usually self-resolving
• Allergic → anti-allergy drops

A bright red patch on the eye can look scary — but most of the time, it’s just a subconjunctival haemorrhage.

Here are some quick facts to help you stay calm and informed:

✔️ It does NOT cause blindness
✔️ It’s usually painless
✔️ It clears on its own within 1–2 weeks
✔️ It’s not a stroke, but do monitor your blood pressure
✔️ It’s not contagious

Last Saturday night, our Medical Director and the team attended the Corneal & Ocular Surface Symposium held at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur.

The event was hosted by Brill and organised in collaboration with ISEC International Specialist Eye Centre , bringing together experts to share the latest advancements in corneal and ocular surface care.

We are committed to continuous learning and professional growth to ensure we deliver the highest standard of care to our patients.
