Significance of Vaitheeswaran Koil Temple

The five towers – Gopurams of the temple are on a straight line.

Navagrahas the nine planets are generally in the front side of the sanctum facing different directions in Shiva temples. Here they are behind the sanctum on a straight line obeying the presiding Lord blessing the devotees freeing them of their adverse aspects

A medicine ball is made of the anthill sand, abishek water, veppilai the neem leaves and abishek sandal and abishek sacred ash. It is believed that consuming this medicinal balls brings total relief for any disease.

VAITHEESWARAN KOIL TEMPLE HISTORY

Vaitheeswaran Temple is a small village located near Mayiladithurai town of in the state of Tamilnadu

This is one of the nine Navagraha temples specifically meant for Angaraha Baghavan. The presiding deity is Lord.Shiva, who is worshiped here as “ Vaitheeswaran” ,the god of healing diseases. Goddess Parvati,his consort, is depicted as Thaiyal Nayaki Amman. This temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 275 Padal Petra Sthalams of Lord Siva.One can find it glorified in the early mythological Tevaram poems written and sung by Appar, Thirugnana Sambandar of the famed 63 nayanmars.

This temple is built on in the lines of Dravidian Style of Architecture.

As per the legend, this temple is believed to have been 2000 years old. It is a world famous temple for removing all Angaraha (Mars) related dhoshas.
