That extra โswayโ in your lower back? ๐
Itโs called HYPERLORDOSIS!
๐น What is Hyperlordosis?
Hyperlordosis is a condition where the natural curve in the lower back (lumbar spine) becomes excessively exaggerated.
Normally, your spine has gentle curves to absorb shock and keep your body balanced. But when the lower back arches too much โ often called โswaybackโ โ it disrupts posture and body mechanics.
๐คย Does It Cause Back Pain?
โก๏ธ Increased Pressure on the Spine ๐ฆด
The deep curve forces more weight onto the lower vertebrae and facet joints, leading to discomfort and stiffness.
โก๏ธMuscle Imbalance ๐ช
Tight muscles: Front thigh muscle and lower back muscles shorten and pull the spine forward.
Weak muscles: Core and buttock muscles donโt support the spine properly.
โก๏ธPostural Strain ๐ถโโ๏ธ
Standing, walking, or sitting with this curve strains your back muscles, making them fatigue faster.
โก๏ธPossible Nerve Irritation โก
In severe cases, the excessive curve may pinch surrounding nerves, causing radiating pain, tingling, or numbness.
๐ Bottom line: Hyperlordosis isnโt just a โposture issueโ โ itโs a spinal imbalance that can cause persistent back pain if not treated.
