OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Om Sri Athma Arul Jothy Muneeswarar Alayam
(also known as Karak Shivan Kuil)
Batu 19, Jalan Gombak Lama (Route 68)
Hulu Gombak, Selangor
The committee of Persatuan Penganut Dewa Athma Arul Jothy Muneeswarar would like to inform devotees and the public that representatives of Om Sri Athma Arul Jothy Muneeswarar Alayam (Karak Shivan Kuil) attended the coordination meeting organised by Jabatan Perhutanan Negeri Selangor on 11 March 2026 regarding the status of religious structures located within forest reserve areas.
During the meeting, the temple representatives respectfully shared the historical background of the temple, including its long-standing presence along the historic Jalan Gombak Lama (Route 68) and the religious activities carried out by devotees over many years.
Historically, the temple compound was managed and cared for by the late Encik Sittra Senan since around 1978, who carried out spiritual activities such as meditation, yoga, and community guidance at the site. Over time, the shrine and surrounding structures developed gradually through the efforts of devotees and caretakers.
We also informed the meeting that documents were found indicating previous administrative dealings with the Selangor Forestry Department, including records relating to a Class E Permit and official receipts issued by Jabatan Perhutanan Negeri Selangor in earlier years. These documents suggest that activities at the site were known to the relevant authorities during that period.
The temple continues to function purely as a place of worship and spiritual practice and is not operated for commercial purposes.
We were informed that the matters raised during the meeting, including the temple’s request for consideration, will be presented at the upcoming LIMAS Committee Meeting (Jawatankuasa Khas Agama Buddha, Kristian, Hindu, Sikh dan Tao Negeri Selangor) for further discussion.
In the meantime, the temple committee has respectfully requested that any enforcement action be temporarily postponed while the matter is being reviewed through the appropriate state-level process.
We would also like to express our appreciation to Malaysia Hindu Sangam and National Malaysia Hindhudharma Maamandram, as members of the LIMAS Committee, for their support to temples and for voicing the concerns of the Hindu community.
The temple committee respects the role of the Selangor State Government and the relevant authorities in managing forest reserve areas and remains committed to cooperating in finding a balanced and constructive solution.
Devotees may continue to visit the temple and offer prayers peacefully as usual while the temple committee cooperates with the relevant authorities and awaits further discussion through the LIMAS process.
We kindly request devotees and members of the public to remain calm and allow the matter to proceed through the proper official process.
