“Panleukopenia” also known as Feline Parvo is a highly contagious and life-threatening viral disease affecting cats.
This virus attacks rapidly dividing cells in the body, especially in the intestines, bone marrow, and immune system.
Kittens, unvaccinated cats, and stressed or immunocompromised cats are at the highest risk.
Common signs include sudden vomiting, severe diarrhea (often bloody), lethargy, loss of appetite, fever, and dehydration.
Because the virus spreads easily through bodily fluids, contaminated environments, and even on clothing or hands, early isolation and veterinary treatment are crucial.
Panleukopenia can be fatal, but it is preventable.
Vaccination is the most effective protection. Make sure your cats, especially kittens, complete their full vaccine schedule and receive timely boosters.
