Yang baik kita ikut, yang tak baik kita abaikan.

Stress is a physiological state in d brain, not juz a feeling.

Under stress the prefrontal cortex ( the part responsible for executive function) become less active.

That’s why some people say “I know what to do.. but I just can’t do it.”

Bagus anak aku ni. Suruh duduk, dia duduk. Suruh diam, dia diam. Tak pernah membantah.

Ramai ibu bapa bangga bila ada anak yang terlalu patuh. Kita rasa kita dah berjaya mendidik.
Tapi kita lupa nak tanya satu soalan penting:
"Dia diam sebab dia faham, atau dia diam sebab jiwa dia dah mati?"

Ini realiti pahit tentang "Over-Controlling Parents".

Bila kita kawal setiap inci hidup anak, dari baju apa dia kena pakai, kawan mana dia boleh nampak, sampai kursus universiti apa dia wajib ambil, kita sebenarnya bukan membesarkan manusia. Kita sedang membela "robot".

Kita ingat itu tanda kasih sayang. Kita kata, "Mak buat ni untuk kebaikan kau."
Tapi kesannya bila dia dewasa, dia jadi manusia yang cacat emosi.

1. Hilang Identiti Diri
Dia tak tahu apa dia s**a. Dia tak tahu apa cita-cita dia. Hidup dia hanyalah skrip yang ditulis oleh mak ayah. Bila besar, dia rasa kosong. "Aku ni siapa sebenarnya?"

2. Trauma Membuat Keputusan (Decision Paralysis)
Nak beli baju raya pun dia menggigil takut salah pilih. Nak tukar kerja pun dia kena minta izin mak ayah walaupun umur dah 30 tahun. Kenapa? Sebab otak dia dah diprogram: "Kalau aku memandai-mandai, mesti salah. Mesti kena marah."

3. Bom Jangka Emosi
Anak yang terlalu dikawal selalunya tak pandai meluahkan perasaan. Dia pendam, pendam, dan pendam. Sampai satu hari, dia akan meletup sama ada menjadi pemberontak yang agresif, atau jatuh ke lembah kemurungan (Depression) yang teruk.

Kepada ibu bapa,
Anak itu amanah, bukan hak milik kekal.
Tugas kita adalah sediakan sayap untuk dia terbang, bukan bina sangkar emas untuk simpan dia selamanya.

Biarlah dia buat silap sekarang, supaya dia belajar bangun sendiri.
Jangan sampai bila kita dah tiada nanti, dia terkebil-kebil hilang arah sebab "remote control" hidupnya dah mati bersama kita.

Lepaskanlah tali itu perlahan-lahan.
