New innovative way to treat depression.
New hope for patients with treatment-resistant depression! NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Institute of Mental Health Singapore are conducting two pioneering clinical pilots – the first in Southeast Asia - to study the effectiveness of using a new form of magnetic brain stimulation to better manage such forms of depression.
Assoc Prof Thomas Yeo from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine’s Centre for Sleep and Cognition is applying his team’s expertise in brain MRI and an artificial intelligence algorithm they have developed to help personalise the new treatment by identifying the ideal location of the brain that should be stimulated.
If the pilots are successful, personalised such treatment could become a game changer for the treatment of various mental conditions.
